2019 Year in Review in Hershey, PA

A Look Back at an Exciting Year in The Sweetest Place On Earth

What a sweet year we had in 2019! From opening a new interactive gaming ride at Hersheypark to hosting some amazing concerts at our entertainment venues, here's a look back at some of our favorite moments at the Hersheypark Entertainment Complex this year:

Hersheypark

  • The 2019 operating season at Hersheypark officially began on April 6 with Springtime In The Park. Guests got a firsthand look at the development around Hershey’s Chocolatetown as they entered the Park and we were fully operational in 2019!
  • Our summer season began May 3 with many new offerings, including an all-new program called HPGO. The exclusive guest platform connects an HPGO wristband with the Hersheypark app to collect free ride stats and photos, while seamlessly integrating with the enhanced Fast Track program.
  • Memorial Day Weekend 2019 was a big one for us, as we opened our all-new interactive gaming ride, Reese's Cupfusion. The story-based attraction features the most targets in the world and six unique ways to play. Guests were certainly up for the mission to become an agent, protect the factory and ensure the world is never deprived of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
  • The Boardwalk At Hersheypark also opened for the summer season on Memorial Day Weekend.
  • There were plenty of new foods to try at the Park in summer 2019. We introduced three new food trucks, a new menu at The Outpost, new King Size Shakes inspired by Reese's Cupfusion at Simply Chocolate, and other sweet treats. What did you enjoy?
  • One of our most popular rides in Hersheypark, the iconic Carrousel, marked its 100th anniversary in 2019 of delighting generations of guests.
  • Hersheypark In The Dark and Creatures Of The Night opened on Oct. 18 for three weekends of Halloween fun.
  • Hersheypark Christmas Candylane opened Nov. 15 for select dates through Jan. 1, 2020. Hershey Sweet Lights, a drive-thru attraction with 600 animated light displays, also opened Nov. 15 and remainder open nightly throughout the holiday season.
  • A week before Christmas, the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture joined Santa and his nine reindeer at Christmas Candylane to announce that they received a clean bill of health and were certified to fly on Christmas Eve.

Hershey's Chocolatetown

  • On January 9, we broke ground on Hershey's Chocolatetown, a new region at Hersheypark where guests can eat, play, shop and gather year round. Since then, our construction teams have been hard at work developing the 23 acres.
  • In July, we unwrapped the details of our 15th coaster, Candymonium, opening in summer 2020 as part of Hershey's Chocolatetown. The hypercoaster will feature a lift height of 210 feet, max speed of 76 mph and track length of 4,636 feet - making it the tallest, fastest, longest and sweetest coaster in Hersheypark.
  • On Oct. 3, exactly one year after announcing the most transformative expansion in Hersheypark history, we unveiled the details of the new culinary and retail experiences planned for Hershey's Chocolatetown.
  • Our Construction Services team craned the top piece of Candymonium into place during the first week of November.
  • In mid-November, we announced Hyperdeck, a virtual reality experience planned for Hershey's Chocolatetown.
