Stay Cool at Hersheypark this August

Tips to Beat The Heat This Summer During Your Hersheypark Visit

Visiting Hersheypark during the hottest days of the summer? There are plenty of ways to cool off in between lots of coaster riding in The Sweetest Place On Earth. Check out these seven ways to beat the heat during your next visit to Hersheypark

1. Pack Smart

When packing for a sweet (and hot) day at Hersheypark, there are a few important items to add to the packing list. Guests should consider wearing lightweight and light-colored clothing. Small bags and backpacks are allowed, so it doesn't hurt to bring a poncho in case of a passing storm. Guests planning to visit The Boardwalk At Hersheypark should also pack a bathing suit and towel.

Let's not forget the sunscreen! The American Academy of Dermatology recommends everyone spending time in the sun to apply a sunscreen that offers broad-spectrum protection (protects against UVA and UVB rays), SPF 30 or higher and water resistance.

2. Hit up the water park

Did you know that The Boardwalk At Hersheypark water park is included in the one-price admission to Hersheypark from Memorial Day through Labor Day? The 11-acre water park located inside Hersheypark has one million gallons of water and more than a dozen water attractions - making it the perfect place for guests to cool off on a hot summer day.

Thrill-seekers can take the plunge on six water slides featuring 1- or 2-person tubes that go through dark tunnels, serpentine curves and corkscrew revolutions. Those looking to relax can enjoy a 1,360-foot, slow, winding lazy river ride. Guests of all ages can catch a wave at the 378,000-gallon wave pool. And, families with young children can make a splash Sandcastle CoveShoreline Sprayground and East Coast Waterworks, which offers more than 600 interactive water features alone.

3. Stay hydrated

The best way to keep your body cool is to drink water and lots of it. Each visitor is allowed to bring one sealed bottle of water into Hersheypark. Plus, free cups of water are available at any Hersheypark-owned food and beverage location and our Pepsi Fast Fill options dispense free ice and water without a scan as well.

Guests can also take advantage of the All-Day Drink Deal for $17.75 and can save with free refills on fountain drinks and Slush all day long!

4. Grab a Bite to Eat Indoors

Hersheypark offers a variety of indoor dining locations for guests seeking AC while eating lunch or dinner. Guests can check out the three new culinary experiences located inside the same building as Hersheypark Supply Co. as part of the new Hershey’s Chocolatetown region.

  • The Chocolatier is an all-new, full-service restaurant, bar, and patio open year-round for guests looking for delicious food, signature desserts and hand-crafted cocktails. The space features nods to past and present elements from the Hersheypark ride collection, one-of-a-kind views of neighboring attractions, and two bars, including a second-story patio with a bar that provides panoramic views of Hersheypark
  • Milton's Ice Cream Parlor is inspired by Mr. Hershey's early ventures in sweetness that came before his famous chocolate factory. Expert Ice Creamologists will craft custom creations from 100% local dairy house-made ice cream, Hershey’s candy toppings, decadent sauces, and savory shareables.
  • The Sweeterie is a confectionery kitchen with a curated collection of mouth-watering confections including chocolate-dipped treats, decadent desserts, signature hand-crafted fudge, and more.

Inside the Park, guests can stop by Overlook Food Court and Gourmet Grille for a variety of food options in an air-conditioned space.

5. Relax in Shaded Areas

Hersheypark is surrounded by shady trees, ample green spaces and fresh Pennsylvania air. Guests can seek shelter from the sun under the Carrousel canopy located in Carrousel Circle. Picnic benches are available for guests wanting to enjoy a bite to eat in the shade.

6. Play a game or two

Hersheypark is home to Playdome Arcade and Overlook Arcade for guests looking to beat the heat as they beat their friends and family in some fun games. Both locations are indoors and air-conditioned. Hyperdeck, a new immersive, virtual reality experience located in Hershey's Chocolatetown, is also a sweet option for gamers. Up to 8 players enter into a dynamic virtual world featuring a full-motion floor and multi-sensory effects like strong winds, heat, and earth-rattling movements.

7. Go shopping

A visit to Hersheypark is not complete without a sweet souvenir to take home to remember all of the #HersheyparkHappy memories made. Many of the shops inside the Park are air-conditioned, so guests can escape the heat while browsing the "cool" selection of hats, shirts, plushes, magnets, chocolate, and more. Don't forget to stop by the two new retail stores in Hershey's Chocolatetown - Hersheypark Supply Co. and HP Collections.
