THE HERSHEY STORY ~ A SWEET EXPERIENCE!

This post originally appeared on momthemagnificent.com

If you have ever visited the town of Hershey PA, you are sure to notice the kindness and sweet natured welcome from the local folks. After spending a weekend getting to know the people behind the sweetest place on earth, it was clear that Mr. Hershey left a lasting mark on this town and all who visit.

I actually love visiting museums, so I was really excited to visit The Hershey Story and learn more about Mr. Hershey, his legacy, and all things chocolate! The Hershey Story is more than a museum. You can do a few fun activities there, and it is very family friendly. The building is beautiful, and it makes for a great activity to add to your weekend itinerary!

What to do at The Hershey Story~

Chocolate Tastings are a really fun activity to do as a group. You get to sample a flight of warm drinking chocolate from around the world. It was really cool to try the different flavors and taste the sweetness levels of each. My favorites were the Hershey’s Milk Chocolate and the Java. There is also a milk chocolate tasting designed just for kids!

See what it is like to be an apprentice in the Chocolate Lab! Experience the distinctive qualities of chocolate through hands on demonstrations and experiences. This activity is for kids ages 5 and up, as well as adults.

The Museum Galleries located upstairs are full of Hershey artifacts and items from his own office. It is really neat to see these pieces of history. There are five distinct phases of Milton Hershey’s life as part of the permanent museum exhibits. There are also special exhibits that change at different times. I thought it was incredible to highlight Mr. Hershey’s failure as part of his journey to success. It was very inspiring to see how much this man changed the world with his drive, tenacity, and love for his business and community. I loved seeing the real life artifacts, like this payment for his later canceled trip on the Titanic!

I really enjoyed learning about The Hershey School. This is such a special community, and Mr. Hershey made sure his company supported the causes dear to his heart. Did you know for more than 100 years, Milton Hershey School has helped children to realize their full potential by offering a top-notch education to students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade from income-eligible families? Each employee I talked to really knew the importance of giving back, serving those in need, and what it means to be a part of a community. Every time you buy a Hershey bar, you are helping support this cause too!

The Hershey Story is more than a museum. It’s a special and definitely sweet experience! Once you go and walk through the Hershey Story, I think it will make your next bite of Hershey’s Chocolate that much sweeter!
