H&R Team Members Share What Women's History Month Means to Them
HE&R Spotlights Team Members for Women's History Month
Throughout the month of March, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R) was proud to spotlight several team members on the HersheyJobs Instagram in celebration of Women's History Month. We invite you to hear their stories and listen to what Women's History Month means to them in the video below.
Meet Danielle, who began her Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R) career in 2006 as part of the opening team at Houlihan’s Restaurant + Bar, and now serves as General Manager of the Restaurant Group, which includes Houlihan’s and Devon Seafood + Steak. “I am passionate and prideful to have seen both these concepts from the ground up, and I am fortunate to be able to lead these amazing operations and teams!”
When asked to describe the significance of observing Women’s History Month, Danielle tells us, “When companies invest in equality, foster a safe work environment, offer growth and support for women leaders, we all win.” For Danielle, her family - especially her daughters - are winners in this investment, too. “I am raising two smart and confident girls who see me as an example of how women can be seen in the world- that means the most to me.”
“Women’s History Month is so important because we still have a lot of work to do to help women achieve equality. Women are beginning to achieve recognition, opportunity, and value more today than has been provided in the past - which is fantastic! I personally get to experience this type of representation working for HE&R, and I am grateful for this."
Meet Samantha of MeltSpa by Hershey! Embarking on her HE&R career in 2017 as an esthetician and massage therapist, Samantha ascended to Spa Manager in 2021 and now oversees daily spa operations, the guest experience, and team member hiring, training, and coaching. “I really enjoy my team and everything we’ve built at MeltSpa by Hershey. There are so many things that make me happy being here!"
She continues, "My favorite part of working at HE&R is our overall purpose of providing [value] for the students of Milton Hershey School.” During Women’s History Month, Samantha reminds us to examine the victories of the past as motivation for future challenges.
“I think it’s important to recognize women in our history that have changed the future for our younger generations and honor their dedication to inspiring women to make changes going forward.”
Meet Danielle, who began her career with Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R) in 2011 as a part-time security officer. In her current role as Assistant Director of Safety & Security of the Hersheypark Entertainment Complex, Danielle is entrusted with developing security programs and procedures that span multiple venues and leading a team of Security operations managers during daily event operations. The relationships Danielle has cultivated with her team members have been her favorite part about working at HE&R and have had the most significant personal impact, “I will carry those friendships throughout the rest of my life.”
For Danielle, highlighting the historical legacy of women who have driven change is essential in celebrating Women’s History Month and she aspires to forge paths for women who come after her. “It means recognizing and celebrating the accomplishments of trailblazing women throughout the years to get us to where we are today.”
“I hope that I can be seen as one of those women that stands for what is right, and I truly strive to be a trailblazer for women, especially in the safety and security profession.”
