HE&R Hosts Annual Day of Service
Making a Difference in Our Community
In conjunction with the observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day (MLK Day), Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R) hosted its annual Day of Service on Monday, January 10, 2023. More than 40 volunteers from across the company came together in camaraderie to support three community partners: Cocoa Packs, Hershey Food Bank and Community Outreach, and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA.
Team members stationed at Cocoa Packs sorted, organized and inventoried dozens of boxes of donated clothing items for the organization’s Clothing Closet. Other team members formed an assembly line and tackled the preparation of food packs ensuring each one was carefully filled with nutritious meals and snacks for the children of Derry Township and the surrounding area.
Across town, our team members were hard at work sorting produce and stocking shelves at Hershey Food Bank and Community Outreach in an effort to provide food security to our neighbors in need. Our team member’s efforts were highlighted on the Hershey Food Bank and Community Outreach official Facebook page.
Meanwhile, the common areas, laundry facilities, kitchens, windows and floors of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA received a deep clean thanks to the elbow grease of our team members. After the dust rags and vacuums were put away, another group of volunteers conducted a kitchen takeover, cooking a delicious, well-rounded meal consisting of meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, roasted vegetables and, of course, dessert.
We are grateful to those who also gave back to the community in other ways through the donation of food and personal care items, blood, and their personal time in helping other community- and church-sponsored events. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for our team members who continuously exemplify HE&R’s Core Values, and commitment to the legacy of our founder, Milton S. Hershey. Thank you for making a difference in our community!
