Zooamerica: meeting luna

This post originally appeared on mommyentourage.com

So lately I’ve been chatting a lot about Hershey, and all that Hershey has to offer that so many people may not know about! If you’ve been following the blog, you can check out my posts on camping life at Hersheypark Camping Resort, having a blast at Giant Stadium for a Hershey Bears game, and taking in the stunning architecture at the Hershey Theatre. There is just so much to do and see, and I can’t wait to go back and take the kids!!

I have always loved animals and interacting with them, even if it’s a little scary at first. We took a tour of ZooAmerica in Hershey, PA and I was able to feed the bears and meet the new love of my life, Luna!!

ZooAmerica is a North American Wildlife Park, and has been established for 46 years. During the tour, we were able to see so many animals up close in a relaxed and uncrowded environment. They offer behind the scenes tours, group events and ZooCamp in addition to regular admission ticketing.

While there I was able to feed the bears which was almost as terrifying as it sounds, but totally safe. We threw fish at sea otters and watched them swim and scramble for them! So cute! But the highlight for me was meeting the sweetest owl named Luna. I was the first volunteer to step up to meet her, and as you can see in the one pic, we were seeing “eye to eye” before you knew it.

I could feel her grasp my hand and I held as steady as I could and tried to stay calm in hopes that would help her feel more safe. The zoo staff were so full of knowledge and I find it so sweet to meet rescued animals and see them thriving. My dog that I spoil on a daily basis also happens to be a rescue!

Here are a couple pics of me and Luna! I can’t wait to take my kids to meet her next time! Isn’t she the cutest?
