The Spa At The Hotel Hershey Celebrates 25 Years
25 years of elegance, indulgence and sweet relaxation
Twenty five years ago, The Spa At The Hotel Hershey, affectionately known as the Chocolate Spa, welcomed guests for the first time, offering a unique twist on the town's sweet history. Since opening its doors on Jan. 15, 2001, this three-story, 40,000-square-foot sanctuary has transformed from a local Hershey, Pa., gem into a Forbes Four-Star, world-renowned destination for luxury and indulgence.
Timeless Design & Historic Influence
The Spa opened in January 2001 as a 17,000-square-foot facility. Due to overwhelming guest demand, the facility underwent a massive expansion just three years later in 2004. This project nearly doubled the spa's size to 40,000 sq. ft., establishing it as one of the largest resort spas in the nation. The expansion not only increased the number of treatment rooms but also introduced The Oasis, an exclusive restaurant for spa guests where dining in a plush robe and sipping on a Hershey’s Signature Martini is the standard.
At the Chocolate Spa, history meets continuous enhancements. The spa’s timeless architecture pays a beautiful tribute to the Hershey legacy. The interior décor was inspired by High Point Mansion, the elegant home of Milton and Catherine (Kitty) Hershey. The facility overlooks the Hotel’s formal gardens and reflecting pools, offering a European-style atmosphere.
The Chocolate Spa recently completed a series of renovations, while still preserving its historic influence. Significant updates were made to The Quiet Room and Aromatherapy Room, where guests can relax before, in-between and after treatments, while the locker rooms also have all new flooring, showers, infrared saunas and soaking tubs.
What Makes the Experience Unique
The spa is most popular for its signature chocolate treatments that allow guests to indulge in Hershey’s sweet heritage. Key highlights include:
- Whipped Cocoa Bath: A patented treatment where guests bathe in a foaming chocolate milk hydrotherapy bath.
- The Cocoa Facial: Includes an edible Chocolate Facial Mask that is rich in antioxidants, and tastes delicious.
- Cuban Experience Treatments: Unique services like the Mojito Massage and Ocean Therapy Wrap that pay homage to Milton S. Hershey’s history with sugar mills in Cuba from 1916 to 1946.
- Sweet Treats Everywhere: Spa guests will find Hershey’s hot chocolate, fun-size chocolate candies and the infamous double chocolate muffins throughout the spa during their visit.
Other amenities guests can enjoy during their spa day include access to the indoor pool and jacuzzi at The Hotel Hershey, a fitness center featuring state-of-the-art workout equipment and access to The Hotel Hershey’s Outdoor Pool Complex during the summer months when you book three or more treatments.
“We are incredibly proud to continue offering the unique ‘Chocolate Spa’ experience that has delighted guests for a quarter of a century.
