To coincide with this Thanksgiving's nationwide release of the “HERSHEY” movie, The Hershey Story Museum will open a new special exhibit that takes visitors behind the scenes of the film. The exhibit, “From Story to Screen: The Making of the HERSHEY Movie,” opens Friday, Nov. 6, 2026, in the William E. Dearden Gallery.

“Through interactive experiences, original costumes and authentic movie props, the exhibit explores the many creative elements of motion picture production, as well as how the HERSHEY movie came to be,” said Valerie Seiber, senior manager, historical collections & exhibitions, The Hershey Story Museum.

Visitors can act out scenes on a recreated set stocked with props and costumes. Interactive activities also include discovering how everyday sounds are recreated for film while watching clips. In addition, visitors can learn about the filmmaking process by watching exclusive interviews with the cast and crew.

Costumes worn by Finn Wittrock as Milton Hershey and Alexandra Daddario as Catherine Hershey reveal how historical photographs help shape a character’s on-screen appearance. Daddario’s costumes were custom made and paired with fashionable hats.

Featured props include reproductions of original Hershey’s packaging, a replica of Mr. Hershey’s caramel sales cart and a hair comb worn by Daddario that plays a key role in the film.

The exhibit also explores the challenges of recreating the clothing and settings of a story spanning five decades, from 1870 to 1918.

“From Story to Screen: The Making of the HERSHEY Movie” will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Nov. 6. The exhibit is included in Museum Experience admission and is free for members of The Hershey Story.
