The Hershey Story Museum Announces September Activities and Events

Calendar Includes Milton Hershey’s Birthday Celebration, Story Time, Art Exhibit and Museum Day

Milton Hershey’s birthday celebration, Story Time with Miss Susan, Museum Day and an art exhibit and sale are on The Hershey Story Museum’s calendar for September. Details on all September happenings are listed below.

SEPTEMBER EVENTS

Story Time with Miss Susan*
Thursday, Sept. 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, 2021
9:15 – 10 a.m.
Free
Children will listen to an interactive read-aloud based on a different theme each week, then participate in a simple craft. Recommended for children ages 3 through 5 accompanied by an adult caregiver. Story Time with Miss Susan will be held in the museum's lower-level classroom; registration is not required. Masks are recommended for everyone ages 2 and older. 
Preschool Storytime themes:
Sept. 2 – Hooray for Firefighters!
Sept. 9 – Bears, Bears, Bears (Children can bring their favorite toy bear.)
Sept. 16 – What’s Cooking?
Sept. 23 – Sounds
Sept. 30 – A Walk in the Woods
*Due to evolving COVID conditions, Story Time with Miss Susan is subject to cancellation without prior notice.

Hershey Area Art Association Exhibit and Sale
Sept. 10 – 12, 2021

Works of art provided by Hershey Area Art Association will be on exhibit and for sale in the Grand Lobby of The Hershey Story Museum. 

Milton Hershey’s Birthday Celebration at ChocolateTown Square* 
Monday, Sept. 13, 2021
6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Free
Join the Hershey community on what would have been Milton Hershey’s 164th birthday. Visitors can bring their lawn chairs or blanket and enjoy a performance of music reminiscent of Mr. Hershey’s era by The Tunesters of Central Pennsylvania. The celebration concludes with birthday cupcakes donated by Milton Hershey School and milk chocolate bars** courtesy of The Hershey Company. 
*ChocolateTown Square is located across from The Hershey Story Museum at the intersection of Chocolate and Cocoa Aves. In the event of inclement weather, the celebration will be held in the Grand Lobby of The Hershey Story.

“Celebration Truffles” Chocolate Lab Class 
Monday, Sept. 13, 2021
11:45 a.m. and 2 p.m.
In celebration of Milton Hershey's birthday, guests can make their own, rich chocolate-caramel truffles in the Chocolate Lab at The Hershey Story on Monday, Sept. 13. Ticket purchase required. Children must be at least 5 years old to participate in a Chocolate Lab class.

Museum Day 
Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021
9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Free with Museum Day ticket
Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day provides free Museum Experience admission to The Hershey Story on Saturday, Sept. 18, with presentation of a Museum Day ticket, downloadable at SmithsonianMag.com under the Arts & Culture tab. Each Museum Day ticket provides free admission for two individuals; tickets limited to one per household.

SEPTEMBER CHOCOLATE LAB CLASSES

The Chocolate Lab offers 45-minute classes where visitors can learn about chocolate’s origin while creating their own chocolate masterpiece. September Chocolate Lab classes include “Art of Chocolate,” “Chocolate by Design” and “Planet Chocolate.” Visit HersheyStory.org for a daily class schedule. Ticket purchase required; children must be at least 5 years old to enter the lab.
