“Whose Live Anyway?” is 90 minutes of hilarious improvised comedy and song, all based on audience suggestions. Cast members Ryan Stiles, Greg Proops, Jeff B. Davis and Joel Murray will leave you gasping with the very witty scenes they invent before your eyes. Audience participation is key to the show, so bring your suggestions, and you might be asked to join the cast onstage! “Whose Live Anyway?” showcases some of the improv games made famous on the long-running TV show, as well as some exciting new ones featuring musical direction by Laura Hall.

The club's 89th season of play in the AHL opens at GIANT Center on Saturday, Oct. 3 as Hershey hosts the Charlotte Checkers at 6 p.m. The Opening Night matchup marks the first of a new scheduling initiative with select Saturday nights featuring a 6 p.m. puck drop. Additional Saturdays featuring this earlier start time include Oct. 17 vs. Providence, Jan. 2 vs. Cleveland, Feb. 27 vs. Springfield, March 27 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and April 10 vs. Lehigh Valley.

Hershey opens the new season with seven straight games at GIANT Center from Oct. 3-24. This represents the club's longest homestand of the campaign and the longest homestand to start a season in franchise history. The stretch of games at GIANT Center is highlighted by a visit from the Texas Stars for a pair of games on Oct. 10-11. This marks the first time the two franchises will meet since the Bears defeated the Stars in six games to capture the 2010 Calder Cup, and the first time they have squared off in regular-season competition. Hershey will also play a pair of games in Texas on March 30-31.

The Bears will welcome a new opponent to GIANT Center this season as the Hamilton Hammers make their inaugural visit to Chocolatetown on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The Hammers, who are the relocated Bridgeport Islanders franchise, will play in the North Division. Hershey will also visit Hamilton on March 17. 

January is the busiest month on the calendar for the Chocolate and White, as the Bears will play 14 games, including six contests at home and eight on the road. That month also includes Hershey's longest stretch of road games, as the Bears embark on a six-game trip from Jan. 17-31 that sees them play at Lehigh Valley, Syracuse, Rochester, Utica, and Cleveland (2).

Weekend dates remain a staple of the schedule with Hershey playing a total of 13 home games on a Saturday, and 10 home contests on a Sunday. The club's home schedule also features one Tuesday game, eight Wednesday games, and four Friday games at GIANT Center.

Hershey will once again play all teams in the Eastern Conference during the 2026-27 campaign with games versus Lehigh Valley (12), Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (12), Charlotte (8), Hartford (6), Springfield (6), Cleveland (4), Providence (4), Rochester (4), Belleville (2), Hamilton (2), Laval (2), Syracuse (2), Toronto (2), and Utica (2). Texas (4) represents the only Western Conference opponent on Hershey's calendar. 

In total, the schedule features just three "three-in-threes," in which the Bears will play three consecutive games in as many days.

“Wearing the Hershey Bears jersey and serving as your captain has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I will always be grateful for what we shared together,” said Ness, in a letter to Hershey Bears fans he shared on HersheyBears.com. “While it’s difficult to step away from the game, I leave with nothing but gratitude and pride. Ness, 36, is one of the most decorated defensemen in franchise history and helped the club to Calder Cup championships in 2023 and 2024. He skated in eight seasons for Hershey during his illustrious career, enjoying two stints with the Bears from 2015-19, and from 2022-26. He played in 466 games with the club, scoring 188 points (33g, 155a). His 466 games are 19th overall in franchise history, and rank seventh among defensemen. “During his time in Hershey, Aaron Ness set a standard of what it means to be a Bear with his professionalism, work ethic, leadership, and skill, all while representing the Chocolate and White with the utmost class,” said Hershey vice president of hockey operations Bryan Helmer. “He was instrumental in bringing the Calder Cup back to Hershey in 2023 and 2024, and he will go down as one of the finest defensemen of his era in the American Hockey League. We wish Aaron – along with his wife, Samantha, and their three children, Carter, Henrik, and Thomas – all the best in retirement.”

The native of Roseau, Minnesota is the highest-scoring American-born defenseman in franchise history. He ranks fifth in regular-season assists among defenseman, and is tied for first in game-winning goals by a defenseman (11, Joe Schertzl and Mike Mahoney). His plus-minus of +54 ranks first in franchise history among rearguards. 

In 2022-23, Ness logged 19 points (5g, 14a) in 69 games and tallied one goal in the postseason as Hershey won its 12th Calder Cup. The following season, Ness had 23 points (4g, 19a) in 68 regular-season games, then added two points (1g, 1a) in 10 playoff games as Hershey claimed the Calder Cup for a second straight year. 

Ness was named Hershey’s captain on October 23, 2024 after serving as an alternate captain the previous two seasons. While wearing the “C,” he guided Hershey to an Atlantic Division title in the 2024-25 campaign, and in the postseason he helped the club to an Atlantic Division Semifinals victory over Lehigh Valley, earning Hershey its ninth consecutive playoff series win, an AHL record. 

In his final campaign in 2025-26, Ness scored six points (1g, 5a) in 38 games and skated in his 800th career AHL game on Dec. 6 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

In his first stint with the organization from 2015-19, Ness helped the Bears reach the 2016 Calder Cup Finals. He served as an alternate captain for parts of the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons, and in 2018-19, he wore the “A” for all home games and enjoyed the best offensive season of his career, posting 55 points (5g, 50a) to lead all AHL defensemen in scoring while earning AHL Second All-Star Team honors. He also claimed Hershey’s Team MVP honors that year, and won the Milton Garland Memorial Award as the club’s best defenseman for the second straight year. 

Ness previously served as captain of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in 2014-15, earning a spot in the 2015 AHL All-Star Classic. He appeared in 818 career AHL games with Bridgeport, Hershey, Tucson, and Providence, collecting 339 points (61g, 278a). He ranks 16th in AHL history in games played by a defenseman, and his 818 AHL contests are the most by an American-born defenseman.

Ness was originally a second-round selection (40th overall) of the New York Islanders in the 2008 NHL Draft, and went on to play in 72 career NHL games with the Islanders, Washington Capitals, and Arizona Coyotes, notching seven points (1g, 6a). Ness also represented the United States in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, collecting one assist in four games.

Hersheypark Stadium was the last major project of Milton S. Hershey's Great Building Campaign, which was completed in the spring of 1939. Since then, the venue has hosted a wide variety of events, including:

Hershey Theatre Spotlight Tours

Beginning this month, Hershey Theatre will once again offer 90-minute public “Spotlight Tours,” a guided walking tour that takes guests behind the scenes, from “basement to balcony,” of the historic masterpiece. Spotlight Tours are held most Sundays and Mondays at 1 p.m., depending on the Theatre’s schedule. Tickets can be purchased online or in person at The Hershey Story Museum. 

In 2027, Hershey Theatre is planning to relocate the organ to the Cathedral Parish of Saint Patrick in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where it will begin a new chapter rooted in daily use, preservation and public access. “This transition represents a renewal of purpose – ensuring that this beautiful instrument is once again heard regularly and fully brought back to life,” said Don Papson, executive director of The M.S. Hershey Foundation, which has operated Hershey Theatre since 1970. “The organ, in its new home, will be played more than 300 times a year.” The decision to relocate the organ reflects the changing nature of theatrical performance. “Large, complex concert organs—once central to theatrical life, especially during the vaudeville era—are no longer regularly played in modern performance spaces,” said Papson. “At Saint Patrick’s, the organ will be played several times each week, supporting liturgy, concerts, education and community gatherings. It will be actively maintained and musically relevant.” 

The organ’s new home is deeply connected to the Hershey family’s legacy. Catherine Hershey—wife of Milton Hershey—was a parishioner at Saint Patrick and a significant benefactor during the Cathedral’s construction in the early 20th century. Mr. and Mrs. Hershey contributed substantial funds toward its creation, and their generosity is permanently recognized as a “Founder” in the church narthex under the name “Mrs. M.S. Hershey.” Father Joshua Brommer, pastor of the Cathedral Parish of Saint Patrick, expressed profound gratitude and excitement at the organ’s arrival: “This organ is a blessing—not only to the Cathedral, but to the entire Harrisburg community. To receive an instrument of this magnitude, history and craftsmanship is truly humbling. We are very much looking forward to honoring its legacy by giving it a voice, week after week, in worship, in education and through our public concert series.” 

“The Cathedral is committed to securing the funding required for the upcoming organ project,” noted Father Brommer. “Our hope is to remove the pipes from Hershey Theatre in 2027, followed by the refurbishment of the organ console. Our goal is to complete the final installation of the organ inside the Cathedral in 2029.” “While we will certainly feel the loss of the organ at Hershey Theatre, this relocation is about stewardship, rather than removal,” Papson said. “The instrument is being restored  to active life in a space that aligns with both its musical power and the Hershey family’s philanthropic values.” “Milton Hershey believed deeply in cultural access, education and long-term community benefit. Allowing this magnificent organ to sing again—regularly, publicly, and reverently—is fully consistent with that legacy,” noted Papson. 

**While the final agreement for the organ’s transfer is expected in 2026, certain details of the transaction are still being finalized.**

The building closed in late January 2025 to undergo a series of major improvements, including:   

• completely refurbished heating, ventilation and air conditioning
• new mechanical and electrical systems
• 1,904 new seats
• new carpeting
• new LED lighting throughout
• additional aisle lighting
• improved wi-fi connectivity
• new handrails in balcony aisles (coming in May/June)
• additional removable armrests to facilitate wheelchair transfer
• improved pedestrian crossing
• improved parking lot spaces, lighting and green space
• new exterior walkways and paver plaza
• modernized assisted-listening system (coming in April)
• modernization of the stage
• new orchestra pit lift
• new loading dock to streamline show load-ins
• expanded and improved sprinkler system
• new emergency generator
• new water and sewer pipes
• remodeled dressing rooms
• refurbished, historically-inspired marquis

 “This carefully planned project was a cooperative effort among historic theater consultants, architects and engineers, all working toward the shared goal of completing these essential infrastructure upgrades while honoring the Theatre’s historic character,” Papson added. 

Hershey Theatre Spotlight Tours

“We extend our sincere thanks to our patrons and the community for their patience and support throughout the renovation process,” Papson said, adding that weekly public “Spotlight Tours” are available for individuals to see the behind-the-scenes renovations. 

Spotlight Tours are offered at the Theatre on most Sundays and Mondays at 1 p.m., depending on the Theatre’s schedule. The 90-minute guided tours take guests from “basement to balcony,” focusing on the building’s rich history. History of Hershey Theatre

In 1915, world-famous chocolatier and philanthropist Milton S. Hershey had his architect, C. Emlen Urban, draw up plans for a new community building, including Hershey Theatre. Groundbreaking was originally scheduled for early 1916, but the arrival of World War I delayed the start of the project. Post-war financial challenges forced Mr. Hershey to delay community projects. As a result, the architect’s plans were put away and virtually forgotten. 

As the Depression overwhelmed the country’s economy in the early 1930s, Mr. Hershey responded to the economic crisis by initiating a local building program known as the Great Building Campaign. The campaign employed more than 600 workers— who would have otherwise been unemployed—and saw the construction of Hershey Theatre and other major Hershey landmarks, including The Hotel Hershey, Hersheypark Arena and Hersheypark Stadium. 

Although Hershey Theatre was built around the same time as Radio City Music Hall, the Theatre was constructed from Urban’s 1915 plans, giving the venue its opulence that resembles those of early 20th-century theaters. Hershey dedicated the Community Building and Hershey Theatre during the 13th anniversary celebration of the town on Sept. 1-4, 1933. The Theatre officially opened its doors on Sept. 2, 1933.

Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m. - Dancing with the Stars: Live! 

After a sold-out tour earlier this year, “Dancing with the Stars: Live!” is hitting the road with a stop at GIANT Center. The 2026 stage spectacular will feature fan-favorite professional dancers from the No. 1 hit television series, including Brandon Armstrong, Alan Bersten, Jenna Johnson, Daniella Karagach, and more. Fans can expect to see a mix of standout routines from the show’s record-breaking season 34, along with fresh performances created just for the tour. Danielle Fishel of “Boy Meets World” fame will join the event in Hershey, Pa., as a special co-host.

Sunday, Feb. 22, at 3 p.m. - Harlem Globetrotters

The Harlem Globetrotters are celebrating 100 years of legacy with their 2026 tour. This centennial season is a once-in-a-century celebration of 100 years of jaw-dropping moves and basketball thrills. From gravity-defying dunks to game-changing tricks, fans will feel the history, joy and fun that only the Globetrotters can deliver. 

Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. - Elevation Worship & Steven Furtick

Elevation Worship and Steven Furtick will embark on the “Elevation Nights” tour in 2026, performing hits RIAA Platinum-certified songs “The Blessing” and “Do It Again.” Additionally, the show will feature Steven Furtick preaching a message and Elevation Worship leading several of their powerful worship anthems. Elevation Rhythm will kick off the night with some of their hits like “GOODBYE YESTERDAY” and “WASHED.”

Saturday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m. - Journey

After more than five decades of electrifying performances, chart-topping hits and timeless anthems, the iconic rock band Journey is saying goodbye the only way they know how—with a thunderous, full-throttle “Final Frontier Tour” spanning 60 cities across North America. All dates will be A Special Evening With. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers will play their catalog of global chart-topping hits, including "Don't Stop Believin,” "Any Way You Want It,” "Faithfully," "Lights" and more in a celebration of legacy, love and the fans who made it all possible.
