The club's 89th season of play in the AHL opens at GIANT Center on Saturday, Oct. 3 as Hershey hosts the Charlotte Checkers at 6 p.m. The Opening Night matchup marks the first of a new scheduling initiative with select Saturday nights featuring a 6 p.m. puck drop. Additional Saturdays featuring this earlier start time include Oct. 17 vs. Providence, Jan. 2 vs. Cleveland, Feb. 27 vs. Springfield, March 27 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, and April 10 vs. Lehigh Valley.

Hershey opens the new season with seven straight games at GIANT Center from Oct. 3-24. This represents the club's longest homestand of the campaign and the longest homestand to start a season in franchise history. The stretch of games at GIANT Center is highlighted by a visit from the Texas Stars for a pair of games on Oct. 10-11. This marks the first time the two franchises will meet since the Bears defeated the Stars in six games to capture the 2010 Calder Cup, and the first time they have squared off in regular-season competition. Hershey will also play a pair of games in Texas on March 30-31.

The Bears will welcome a new opponent to GIANT Center this season as the Hamilton Hammers make their inaugural visit to Chocolatetown on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The Hammers, who are the relocated Bridgeport Islanders franchise, will play in the North Division. Hershey will also visit Hamilton on March 17. 

January is the busiest month on the calendar for the Chocolate and White, as the Bears will play 14 games, including six contests at home and eight on the road. That month also includes Hershey's longest stretch of road games, as the Bears embark on a six-game trip from Jan. 17-31 that sees them play at Lehigh Valley, Syracuse, Rochester, Utica, and Cleveland (2).

Weekend dates remain a staple of the schedule with Hershey playing a total of 13 home games on a Saturday, and 10 home contests on a Sunday. The club's home schedule also features one Tuesday game, eight Wednesday games, and four Friday games at GIANT Center.

Hershey will once again play all teams in the Eastern Conference during the 2026-27 campaign with games versus Lehigh Valley (12), Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (12), Charlotte (8), Hartford (6), Springfield (6), Cleveland (4), Providence (4), Rochester (4), Belleville (2), Hamilton (2), Laval (2), Syracuse (2), Toronto (2), and Utica (2). Texas (4) represents the only Western Conference opponent on Hershey's calendar. 

In total, the schedule features just three "three-in-threes," in which the Bears will play three consecutive games in as many days.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers back to GIANT Center,” said Hershey vice president of hockey operations Bryan Helmer. “Last year’s event was a great success that highlighted our incredibly strong partnership with Washington, and we’re excited to have this marquee showcase returning to Chocolatetown. Opening the hockey season with NHL action in Hershey is special, and we know the best fans in the American Hockey League will be ready to provide another phenomenal atmosphere this September.”

This is the fifth time the GIANT Center has hosted an NHL preseason game. Last year was the first NHL preseason game in Hershey since 2006, and the Capitals prevailed 5-1 over the Flyers in front of 10,420 on Sept. 25, 2025. Washington’s lineup featured two sets of brothers, something the NHL hasn’t seen in the regular season since 2002, as Dylan and Matt Strome and Aliaksei and Ilya Protas skated for the Capitals. 

The Bears and Capitals have enjoyed a longstanding affiliation that began ahead of the 2005-06 campaign. Last season, the Capitals roster featured 14 players who have also played in Hershey for the Bears. Standouts Connor McMichael and Aliaksei Protas were part of Hershey’s 2023 Calder Cup team, while Ethen Frank and Dylan McIlrath led Hershey to back-to-back Calder Cups in 2023 and 2024. Fellow Calder Cup champion Bogdan Trineyev made his NHL debut with the Capitals last season, while Ilya Protas, who claimed the AHL’s Dudley “Red” Garrett Memorial Award as the AHL’s outstanding rookie with Hershey, earned a call-up to make his NHL premiere with the Capitals in April. 

The Capitals staff also has many connections to Hershey. Washington head coach Spencer Carbery, who won the 2024-25 Jack Adams Award as the NHL’s coach of the year, was Hershey’s head coach from 2018-21, winning the Louis A.R. Pieri Memorial Award as the AHL’s outstanding coach in 2020-21. Washington assistant coach Scott Allen, goaltending coach Scott Murray, video coach Emily Engel-Natzke, assistant athletic trainer Murphy Luatua, assistant strength coach Mike Wagner, and radio play-by-play broadcaster John Walton are all former Hershey staff members. 

In total, the Bears have won the Calder Cup five times during the current partnership with Washington (2006, 2009, 2010, 2023, 2024), and no NHL-AHL pairing has won more Calder Cups in that span. When the Capitals won the Stanley Cup in 2018, 14 players on the club’s playoff roster previously played in Hershey.

In addition to last year’s game, previous NHL preseason games at GIANT Center included the initial NHL contest on Oct. 2, 2003 when the Flyers were bested by the New York Islanders. On Sept. 25, 2005, the Capitals and Penguins played at GIANT Center in a game that saw Alex Ovechkin take the ice for Washington ahead of his record-setting rookie season. The following year, Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Martin Brodeur helped the New Jersey Devils to a win over the Capitals in Hershey on Sept. 24, 2006.

“Wearing the Hershey Bears jersey and serving as your captain has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I will always be grateful for what we shared together,” said Ness, in a letter to Hershey Bears fans he shared on HersheyBears.com. “While it’s difficult to step away from the game, I leave with nothing but gratitude and pride. Hockey will always be a part of me and Hershey will always feel like home.”

Ness, 36, is one of the most decorated defensemen in franchise history and helped the club to Calder Cup championships in 2023 and 2024. He skated in eight seasons for Hershey during his illustrious career, enjoying two stints with the Bears from 2015-19, and from 2022-26. He played in 466 games with the club, scoring 188 points (33g, 155a). His 466 games are 19th overall in franchise history, and rank seventh among defensemen. He also appeared in 76 postseason games for Hershey, the most playoff games in club history by a defenseman, recording 18 points (2g, 16a).

“During his time in Hershey, Aaron Ness set a standard of what it means to be a Bear with his professionalism, work ethic, leadership, and skill, all while representing the Chocolate and White with the utmost class,” said Hershey vice president of hockey operations Bryan Helmer. “He was instrumental in bringing the Calder Cup back to Hershey in 2023 and 2024, and he will go down as one of the finest defensemen of his era in the American Hockey League. We wish Aaron – along with his wife, Samantha, and their three children, Carter, Henrik, and Thomas – all the best in retirement.”

The native of Roseau, Minnesota is the highest-scoring American-born defenseman in franchise history. He ranks fifth in regular-season assists among defenseman, and is tied for first in game-winning goals by a defenseman (11, Joe Schertzl and Mike Mahoney). His plus-minus of +54 ranks first in franchise history among rearguards. 

In 2022-23, Ness logged 19 points (5g, 14a) in 69 games and tallied one goal in the postseason as Hershey won its 12th Calder Cup. The following season, Ness had 23 points (4g, 19a) in 68 regular-season games, then added two points (1g, 1a) in 10 playoff games as Hershey claimed the Calder Cup for a second straight year. 

Ness was named Hershey’s captain on October 23, 2024 after serving as an alternate captain the previous two seasons. While wearing the “C,” he guided Hershey to an Atlantic Division title in the 2024-25 campaign, and in the postseason he helped the club to an Atlantic Division Semifinals victory over Lehigh Valley, earning Hershey its ninth consecutive playoff series win, an AHL record. 

In his final campaign in 2025-26, Ness scored six points (1g, 5a) in 38 games and skated in his 800th career AHL game on Dec. 6 vs. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

In his first stint with the organization from 2015-19, Ness helped the Bears reach the 2016 Calder Cup Finals. He served as an alternate captain for parts of the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons, and in 2018-19, he wore the “A” for all home games and enjoyed the best offensive season of his career, posting 55 points (5g, 50a) to lead all AHL defensemen in scoring while earning AHL Second All-Star Team honors. He also claimed Hershey’s Team MVP honors that year, and won the Milton Garland Memorial Award as the club’s best defenseman for the second straight year. 

Ness previously served as captain of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in 2014-15, earning a spot in the 2015 AHL All-Star Classic. He appeared in 818 career AHL games with Bridgeport, Hershey, Tucson, and Providence, collecting 339 points (61g, 278a). He ranks 16th in AHL history in games played by a defenseman, and his 818 AHL contests are the most by an American-born defenseman.

Ness was originally a second-round selection (40th overall) of the New York Islanders in the 2008 NHL Draft, and went on to play in 72 career NHL games with the Islanders, Washington Capitals, and Arizona Coyotes, notching seven points (1g, 6a). Ness also represented the United States in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, collecting one assist in four games.

Hersheypark amusement park is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays this month for Spring Weekends. Daily summer operations begin May 21 with hours varying by day.

2. Make A Splash At The Boardwalk

The Boardwalk at Hersheypark water park opens daily for the summer season later this month, with the debut of two new water play areas boasting 45 aquatic elements in the existing Bayside Pier area. 

• A new shade-filled play zone, The Inlet at Bayside Pier, will feature water-spouting dolphins and fish, and whimsical water spray features.
• The Island at Bayside Pier will debut towering 10-foot-tall palm trees that tip buckets of refreshing water.

Both new areas will feature rubberized decking for additional guest comfort, allowing guests to sit and splash under shaded canopies. The new open design will also allow families to seamlessly flow between other water attractions and cool off faster with access to the abundant water features. 

The 11-acre water park with 17 unique attractions is included with the one-price Hersheypark admission through Labor Day.

5. Hershey Bears Vs Scranton Penguins at GIANT Center

The chase for the Calder Cup is on! The Hershey Bears have qualified for the 2026 Calder Cup Playoffs, with the first games of the series against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this month. The Bears will take on the Penguins for game 3 of the Atlantic Division Semifinals at GIANT Center in a best-of-five series. This is Hershey's ninth all-time playoff series against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, making the Penguins Hershey's most frequent postseason opponent among active AHL franchises.

6. NEW! The Hershey Story Book Club

The Hershey Story Museum invites the public to its inaugural book club discussion. The tour also includes the history behind the Four Seasons Statues. This event is included in general admission. 

5. Teddy Bear & Friends Day

A Zoo fan favorite, kids 12 and under are invited to bring a stuffed animal to ZooAmerica for Teddy Bear & Friends Day on March 14! Guests can stop by the Teddy Bear Repair Clinic with their stuffed animal friend for a check-up and repair by a real veterinarian or Zoo naturalist. Kids can also participate in story time, a scavenger hunt and a bear artifact station. All activities are included in standard admission.

1. Dancing With The Stars: LIVE! at GIANT Center 

Thursday, Feb. 5; 7:30 p.m.

After a sold-out tour earlier this year, “Dancing with the Stars: Live!” is hitting the road with a stop at GIANT Center. The 2026 stage spectacular will feature fan-favorite professional dancers from the No. 1 hit television series, including Brandon Armstrong, Alan Bersten, Jenna Johnson, Daniella Karagach, and more. Fans can expect to see a mix of standout routines from the show’s record-breaking season 34, along with fresh performances created just for the tour. Danielle Fishel of “Boy Meets World” fame will join the event in Hershey, Pa., as a special co-host.

2. Harlem Globetrotters at GIANT Center

The Harlem Globetrotters are celebrating 100 years of legacy with their 2026 tour. This centennial season is a once-in-a-century celebration of 100 years of jaw-dropping moves and basketball thrills. From gravity-defying dunks to game-changing tricks, fans will feel the history, joy and fun that only the Globetrotters can deliver. 

3. Elevation Worship & Steven Furtick at GIANT Center

Elevation Worship and Steven Furtick will embark on the “Elevation Nights” tour in 2026, performing hits RIAA Platinum-certified songs “The Blessing” and “Do It Again.” Additionally, the show will feature Steven Furtick preaching a message and Elevation Worship leading several of their powerful worship anthems. For several years, HE&R colleagues have recognized Martin Luther King Jr. Day by giving back to our neighbors in need. The 2026 Day of Service included projects at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA, where three shifts of team members cleaned parts of the house, baked sweet treats, and made dinner for residents. Teams also created hygiene kits and snack packs for the United Way of the Capital Region, made sibling bags and wrote notes for Penn State Health Children's Hospital, created hygiene kits for unhoused residents in Lancaster, sorted and stocked food items at Hershey Food Bank & Community Outreach. Team members also wrote cards to Milton Hershey School Senior Division students to encourage them to continue living by The Pledge as the second half of the school year begins. 

Members of our Military and Veterans Employee Resource Group (MAV) headed to Harrisburg to help build a dog park at Veterans Grove, a Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania tiny home community. Due to inclement weather, our MAV team had to pivot and help with projects inside the facility. MAV hopes to help with the dog park later this year. In Lancaster, HE&R colleagues visited Schreiber Pediatric Center for Pediatric Development, which marks its 90th anniversary this year. The team helped prepare items for upcoming anniversary celebrations and toured the facility. Patients and family members staying at the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge in Philadelphia will receive written notes of encouragement from our team members. A simple greeting for community members going through health challenges goes a long way, and we are proud to extend our thoughts to them.

Tour Founders Hall Visitors Center

Hershey, by providing value to Milton Hershey School (MHS) in its mission of helping students lead fulfilling and productive lives - just as Mr. Hershey intended. The Milton Hershey School Founders Hall Visitors Center is open to visitors, offering an opportunity to explore more than 110 years of MHS history. The free tour explores the story of the School's past, present and future. Founders Hall is located at 801 Spartan Lane, Hershey, PA 17003, near the intersection of Meadow Lane and East Governor Road (Rte. 322).

The fur flies when the Hershey Bears score the team's first goal of the game. This year's honor went to defenseman Louie Belpedio at the 2:55 mark of the first period. When the buzzer sounded, a corps of volunteers ascended into the rink to clear the ice and collect the stuffed animals. Players from the Eastern Pennsylvania Hockey group, also known as the "Statie Grays," consisting of Pennsylvania State Troopers, along with the Hershey Eagles, Central Pennsylvania's premier military hockey club supporting active duty, Reserve, Guard, and veterans, joined in the clean-up process along with more than 50 Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R) team members. Milton Hershey School students and staff members joined additional HE&R volunteers on the GIANT Center plaza to collect and count stuffed animals as fans entered the building. 

At its heart, Hershey's Teddy Bear Toss is about community, kindness, and generosity. Our Bears fans are the best in the American Hockey League! Every year, they raise the bar on what it means to give back. Additionally, more than 100 volunteers from Children's Miracle Network Hershey (CMN) joined HE&R team members to count and bag thousands of plush toys. CMN has benefited from the Teddy Bear Toss for several years. For the past decade, the Sweigart Family Foundation of Lancaster County donated $1 to CMN at Golisano Children's Hospital at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for every animal thrown on the ice. This year, The GIANT Company stepped in to honor the late Jeff Sweigart, a devoted Bears fan and longtime season ticket holder, to keep his passion alive. The GIANT Company graciously donated $100,000 to CMN. 

On Monday, January 5, 2026, the 81,796 donated stuffed animals were distributed to more than 60 local and regional organizations, including several new groups such as Lancaster Food Hub, Elizabethtown Fire Department, LaMancha Animal Rescue, Hummelstown Fire Department, Helping Hands of Juniata County, and Lucky Dawg Pet Rescue. Dozens of HE&R team members packed cars and trucks, sending smiles across the region. Thank you to our amazing fans and community members for making the 2026 Teddy Bear Toss another wonderful experience!

Hersheypark Christmas Candylane continues through Jan. 4 with over 40 family rides (weather, temperature and maintenance permitting), signature eats and treats and reindeer visits. Although Hersheypark will be closed for the off season following the end of Christmas Candylane, 2026 Season Pass Holders will be able to start enjoying a full year of perks by visiting ZooAmerica, dining at The Chocolatier and enjoying various discounts across the town of Hershey. 

2. Discovery Weekends at ZooAmerica

3. Hershey Bears GIANT Teddy Bear Toss at GIANT Center

Sunday, Jan. 4; 3 p.m.

The Hershey Bears are excited to host their annual GIANT Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used teddy bears and plush toys to the game to be thrown on the ice at GIANT Center when the Bears score their first goal. There is no limit on how many teddy bears fans can bring.

Since first hosting this beloved minor-league hockey tradition in 2001, the Bears have collected 566,450 stuffed animals – including a record 102,343 last season – and have donated them to children in need throughout Central Pennsylvania. A limited number of tickets for the Teddy Bear Toss Game are currently available, and the event is expected to sell out quickly. 4. NEW! Winter Wednesdays Family Series at Hershey Gardens

Jan. 14, 21, 28; 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Visitors to Hershey Gardens can meet new “friends” each week at the Zoology Zone Interactive Cart to engage in family activities and explore how animals and plants survive winter. Guests will learn about the similarities and differences between native species and the species in our Zoology Zone, discuss winter survival strategies, and explore when seeds are dormant during the winter. Activities are located in the Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory and the Education Center and are included in general admission.

5. Sips & Sweets: An Evening in the Chocolate Lab at The Hershey Story Museum

Thursday, Jan. 15; 7 to 8 p.m. 

Get ready for an evening of chocolatey fun! The Chocolate Lab at The Hershey Story Museum is serving up three delicious, handcrafted desserts and a specialty mocktail. Participants will learn a few fundamentals of dessert-making in this fun, one-hour class. This BYOB event is perfect for guests 21+ who want to savor sweets and sip with friends! 10. New Eats at The Chocolatier

The Chocolatier Restaurant, Bar + Patio features a new winter menu with updates to many big plates and shareables. Warm up with seasonal variations on classic dishes like the Heath Bar Crusted Salmon, Leek & Pancetta Risotto and Grilled NY Strip Steak. 11. Winter Bird Watching at Hershey Gardens

Saturday, Jan. 17; 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Birding enthusiasts can learn to identify the various birds that call Hershey Gardens home during the winter. Staff will guide participants through Project Feederwatch, then take them on a unique guided bird walk, providing additional information about identification and feeding techniques.

For the youngest birders, additional family crafts and activities will be offered in the Hershey Gardens classroom. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. This event is in partnership with the Quittapahilla Audubon Society and is included in general admission. Registration is required by calling 717-508-5968.

12. Explore Founders Hall Visitors Center at Milton Hershey School

Open Monday - Saturday; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Milton Hershey School (MHS) Founders Hall Visitors Center is open to visitors, offering an opportunity to explore more than 110 years of MHS history. The free tour explores the story of the School's past, present and future. Founders Hall is located at 801 Spartan Lane, Hershey, PA 17003, near the intersection of Meadow Lane and East Governor Road. (Rte. 322).

Discovery Weekends at ZooAmerica

ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. this winter. Families can bundle up and walk around the 11-acre Zoo while learning about dozens of animals native to our continent, like gray wolves, Canada lynx and river otters. Despite the colder temperatures, winter is often the best time of year to visit ZooAmerica, as the crowds typically are lighter and the animals are more active. 

The Zoo is also hosting Discovery Weekends in January, where kids ages 8 and under can visit for free on Saturdays and Sundays with the purchase of a regular or senior admission ticket at the door. Each Discovery Weekend spotlights a specific animal and features a variety of enrichment activities to learn more about your favorite animals. Current ZooAmerica Pass Holders can enjoy unlimited year-round visits to the Zoo, and 2026 Hersheypark Season Pass Holders get into the Zoo for free, too.

Hershey Bears Hockey Games at GIANT Center

Hockey fans can cheer for the hometown Hershey Bears AHL team. The Bears will play 17 games at GIANT Center between now and the end of March.

Key promotional nights include the GIANT Teddy Bear Toss Night on Jan. 4 and Hersheypark Pass Nights on Jan. 20 and Mar. 22. All fans attending the Hersheypark Pass Nights will receive a free 2026 Hersheypark ticket, valid for one-day admission through June 30, 2026! Passes will be distributed to all fans upon entry to the game, valid for one pass per game ticket.

Tuesday Trivia Nights & Hershey Bears Watch Parties at The Bears' Den

Calling all trivia fans! Gather your friends and join us at The Bears' Den, located inside Hershey Lodge, every Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. for a game of trivia, featuring general trivia questions. Interactive Events at Hershey Gardens

Hershey Gardens is open daily this winter except Jan. 5-9 for maintenance. Visitors can take a stroll through the 23-acre walk-through botanical display garden, featuring an indoor tropical Butterfly Atrium with 600 butterflies from around the world. The atrium is one of only 25 year-round indoor tropical butterfly atriums in the U.S.

NEW! Winter Wednesdays Family Series: Winter Animal Adaptations

Every Wednesday in January from 10 a.m. to noon, meet new “friends” at the Zoology Zone Interactive Cart and engage in family activities that explore how animals and plants survive winter. You'll learn how to compare and contrast native species with Zoology Zone species, discuss winter survival, and explore when seeds are dormant over winter. Activity is located in the Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory and the Education Center. 

Dried Floral Arrangement Class

On Saturday, Feb. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon, create your own dried floral arrangement to bring beauty to your home in the winter months. You'll use an assortment of dried specimens, such as seed pods, florals, grasses and greens, to learn about color, form and texture when creating an arrangement. Class held in the Education Center in The Children’s Garden. Registration is required.

Chocolate Lab Classes at The Hershey Story

Those looking for a fun indoor activity to beat the winter blues can head to The Hershey Story Museum to learn all about the life and legacy of Milton S. Hershey, the town he created and the lives he touched. Additional paid experiences are also available, including the Chocolate Lab, where guests can learn about the chocolate-making process from "bean to bar" and create their own chocolate treat. Chocolate Lab Classes are offered daily on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets can be purchased at The Hershey Story⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠ admissions desk on the day of the visit.

Public Ice Skating at Hersheypark Arena

Ice skating is a staple on many people's winter bucket lists. Hersheypark Arena is open for public ice skating on select dates in December and January. Children 3 and under are admitted free, with ticket prices ranging from $6 to $9 for ages 4 and older.

The culinary team at Hershey Lodge is excited to offer limited-time Wild Game & Mushroom menus at two of its restaurants to celebrate hunting season in Pennsylvania. Displays include The 12 Days of Christmas, an Enchanted Forest, Hersheypark rides and a Northern Lights area.

6. Christmas Tree Showcase at Hershey Gardens

Hershey Gardens signature holiday event returns to the Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory this month! Renowned comedian Bert Kreischer returns to the stage in 2025 with his brand-new tour, “Permission To Party.” The tour features more than 40 dates across the U.S., including a visit to GIANT Center.

Kreischer’s career has evolved from Rolling Stone Magazine’s “Number One Partier in the Nation” to one of the top-grossing stand-up comics in the business, a movie star, a leading podcaster and an entrepreneur.

9. Warren Zeiders

A native of The Sweetest Place On Earth, breakout country music star Warren Zeiders will perform at GIANT Center as part of his 27-date “Relapse, Lies, & Betrayal Tour”. Zeiders is a true road warrior and shows no signs of slowing down, playing bigger markets and bigger venues. The 2025 “Relapse” tour dates follow his successful 2023-24 “Pretty Little Poison” headlining tour, which sold out more than 55 shows across the U.S. and Canada, including a standout performance at Nashville’s iconic Ryman Auditorium and appearances at major festivals. At just 25 years old, Zeiders has already surpassed 3.6 billion global career streams.

10. Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Multi-platinum rock group Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) will return to Hershey, Pa., for two shows as part of their highly anticipated 2025 winter tour, “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve: The Best of TSO & More.” The show comes to life with a special production featuring a second set of hits and fan favorites, including a 25th anniversary salute to “Beethoven’s Last Night,” along with pyros, lasers and the powerful storytelling that has captured the hearts of generations. 

11. Matt Rife

Friday, Nov. 28; 8 p.m.

Hugely popular comedian Matt Rife will visit GIANT Center as part of his 2025 “Stay Golden Tour.” Produced by Live Nation, the tour will see Rife playing the biggest rooms of his career thus far, with 32 arena and amphitheater dates across North America. The “Stay Golden Tour” follows Rife’s wildly successful “ProbleMATTic World Tour,” which saw the comedian sell over 600,000 tickets across 250+ shows in less than 48 hours following the announcement in June 2023. The multi-year tour included shows across North America, Europe, the U.K. and Australia.

Published author and Penn State Harrisburg professor Dr. John R. Haddad will hold a presentation and book signing for his latest book, “Thrill Ride: The Transformation of Hersheypark” at The Hershey Story Museum. "Thrill Ride" takes readers on a journey through Hersheypark’s transformation from a traditional amusement park for chocolate factory employees to a major attraction enjoyed by millions. He will also present highlights of Hersheypark’s fascinating story and share his inspiration for writing the book. The event is free, with the book available for purchase at the museum shop.

The Chocolatier Restaurant, Bar + Patio is open daily for lunch and dinner. In addition to the regular Fun-To-Table menu, diners can order from a seasonal menu of fall-inspired shareables, entrées, desserts and cocktails for guests 21 and older. 

Guests can also enjoy a weekday special, featuring $10 flatbreads and $12 milkshakes, as well as select shareables, every Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Later this month, Breakfast With Santa returns to The Chocolatier! The family-friendly event is offered on Saturdays and Sundays, plus select Fridays from Nov. 28 through Dec. 21 and Dec. 24 from 8-10:45 a.m. Guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet and tons of holiday family fun. 15. Visit ZooAmerica 

Open Daily in November; 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m (closed on Thanksgiving Day)

It’s a sweet month to visit ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park, as many North American animals in the outdoor habitats, such as the gray wolves, river otters and Canada Lynx, are more active when the temperature drops.

Tickets are available for purchase online or at the ZooAmerica Admissions Building. Regular admission for guests ages 9-61 is $16.50 plus taxes and fees. Admission for juniors (ages 3-8) and seniors (ages 62 and above) is $14.50 plus taxes and fees. Children 2 and under are free. 

ZooAmerica is included with a Hersheypark ticket only when accessed through the Hersheypark bridge during posted Park hours. Please note that the Zoo naturalists care for the reindeer at Hersheypark, so a Christmas Candylane ticket is required to view them.

Hersheypark Halloween and Dark Nights

Hersheypark is open Friday through Sunday for Hersheypark Halloween and Dark Nights presented by Reese's and Kit Kat® immersive haunt experience. The USA TODAY Top 10Best Theme Park Halloween Event features family-friendly offerings and frights - all included in the one-price admission.

Creatures Of The Night at ZooAmerica 

ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park is open daily over the long holiday weekend to explore the wild of North America.  It's also the second weekend of the popular Creatures Of The Night event, which is the only time of year the Zoo is open after dark to observe the nighttime habits of the nocturnal North American animals. Visitors are encouraged to bring flashlights to see black bears, Canada lynx, gray wolves, river otters and more during a walk around the 11-acre zoo in the heart of Hershey.

In celebration of the event's 45th anniversary, ZooAmerica debuted new activities included with admission, such as a history-themed scavenger hunt and a creature kitchen where visitors can learn about animal diets. Decorating a luminary, a creepy crawler display, animal enrichments and other guest-favorite, Halloween-themed activities are also offered during the event.

Davis recently released his new album, “Learn the Hard Way,” in August. The new album is the follow-up to his Platinum-selling breakthrough album “Bluebird Days,” which produced four consecutive No. 1 singles and two “Song of the Year” winning song titles off of one album. Davis is the first artist in history to accomplish the feat.

King, 58, brings a wealth of coaching experience in both the American Hockey League (AHL) and National Hockey League (NHL) to Hershey. The native of Hamilton, Ontario joins the Bears after spending the last four seasons with the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks where he coached the likes of Connor Bedard, Marc-André Fleury, Taylor Hall, Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and current Capitals forward Dylan Strome. He was an assistant coach for the Blackhawks from 2022-25, working with the team’s forwards. 

He previously served as the interim head coach of the Blackhawks in 2021-22. When he joined the Blackhawks on November 6, 2021, Chicago was just 1-9-2, and he guided the club to a four-game win streak to start his NHL head coaching tenure. The Blackhawks scored .59 more goals per game under King and allowed .43 less goals per game with King at the helm.

Prior to being elevated to the NHL, King spent parts of seven seasons with the Blackhawks’ AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs. He was an assistant coach from 2016-18, helping the team to a Western Conference Finals appearance in 2018. He was promoted to interim head coach on November 6, 2018, and took over as the club’s permanent head coach prior to the 2019-20 season. With Rockford, he coached numerous players with ties to Hershey including Cody Franson, Dmitri Osipov, Garrett Mitchell, and Cameron Schilling. 

King worked with the Toronto Marlies as an assistant coach from 2009-14, and as an associate coach in 2014-15. He helped the Marlies to a Calder Cup Finals appearance in 2012, and Toronto won 40 or more games in each of his final four seasons with the club. 

King got his coaching start as a player-coach with the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins from 2002-04. There, he worked with former Hershey head coach Todd Nelson, who was an assistant coach with the Griffins in 2002-03.

King also enjoyed an accomplished playing career spanning 14 seasons in the NHL from 1986-00. Drafted 13th overall by the New York Islanders in 1985, King played 830 NHL games, scoring 612 points (261g, 351a). He was a three-time 30-goal scorer, including one 40-goal season. In addition to the Islanders, he also played for the Hartford Whalers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and St. Louis Blues. He was a teammate with Hershey vice president of hockey operations Bryan Helmer while with the Blues during the 1999-00 season. 

King finished his professional career by spending parts of four seasons with Grand Rapids, scoring 203 points (73g, 130a) in 264 games, while earning the distinction of being the Griffins’ all-time leading playoff scorer with 41 points (16g, 25a) in 46 games over his tenure in the International Hockey League (IHL) and AHL. 

The remainder of Hershey’s coaching staff will remain intact as King will be joined by assistant coaches Patrick Wellar and Nick Bootland, associate goaltending coach Juha Lehtola, video coach Adam Purner, and strength and conditioning coach Kurtis Freter.

The 2025-26 season gets underway for the Bears at GIANT Center versus the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. Hershey plays the Crunch again the following day at 5 p.m. amid a four-game stretch at home from Oct. 11-19 to start the club's 88th AHL campaign.

Hershey's schedule will feature a franchise-record nine-game homestand from Nov. 26-Dec. 20. The Bears will host Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (3), Providence (2), Bridgeport (1), Charlotte (1), Laval (1), and Lehigh Valley (1) during the stretch. That homestand begins with Hershey's traditional Thanksgiving Eve game which once again returns to the schedule on Nov. 26 at the Bears host Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at 7 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday home games will be a staple of Hershey's schedule, as the club is slated to host 13 home games on each day during the campaign. Additional home games occurring on weekdays come on Tuesday (2), Wednesday (4), and Friday (4). 

For the first time since 2019, the Bears will play the Western Conference's Rockford IceHogs at GIANT Center, as the two teams square off on Jan. 3-4 for Hershey's first action in 2026. That kickstarts the busiest month on the calendar for the Chocolate and White, as the Bears will play 14 games in January, including eight contests at home and six on the road.

Hershey's longest stretch of road games is eight, as from March 27-April 15 the Bears visit Charlotte (2), Bridgeport (1), Hartford (1), Lehigh Valley (1), Springfield (1), Syracuse (1), and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (1). In the second half of the season, Hershey plays 23 road games, including a stretch of 22 of 30 games away from Hershey from Jan. 28-April 15.

The Bears will conclude the 2025-26 campaign on home ice against the Rochester Americans on Sunday, April 19, at 3 p.m.

In total, the schedule features just three "three-in-threes," in which the Bears will play three consecutive games in as many days.

Hershey will once again play all teams in the Eastern Conference during the 2025-26 campaign with games versus Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (10), Lehigh Valley (10), Charlotte (8), Bridgeport (6), Belleville (4), Cleveland (4), Hartford (4), Providence (4), Rochester (4), Springfield (4), Syracuse (4), Laval (2), Toronto (2), and Utica (2). Along with the games against Rockford, Hershey's 15 unique opponents on the 2025-26 schedule represents the largest figure of any Atlantic Division club.

The Bears and Capitals have enjoyed a longstanding affiliation that began twenty years ago ahead of the 2005-06 season. The Bears have won the Calder Cup five times during the current partnership (2006, 2009, 2010, 2023, 2024), and no NHL-AHL pairing has won more Calder Cups in that span. When the Capitals won the Stanley Cup in 2018, 14 players on the club’s playoff roster previously played in Hershey.

Last season, the Capitals roster featured 15 players who have also played in Hershey for the Bears. Connor McMichael and Aliaksei Protas were part of Hershey’s 2023 Calder Cup team, while Ethen Frank and Dylan McIlrath led Hershey to back-to-back Calder Cups in 2023 and 2024. Capitals defenseman John Carlson won the Calder Cup with Hershey in 2009 and 2010.

The Capitals staff also has many connections to Hershey. Washington head coach Spencer Carbery, who won the 2024-25 Jack Adams Award as the NHL’s coach of the year, was Hershey’s head coach from 2018-21, winning the Louis A.R. Pieri Memorial Award as the AHL’s outstanding coach in 2020-21. Washington assistant coach Scott Allen, goaltending coach Scott Murray, video coach Emily Engle-Natzke, assistant athletic trainer Murphy Luatua, assistant strength coach Mike Wagner, and radio play-by-play broadcaster John Walton are all former Hershey staffers.

Previous NHL preseason games at GIANT Center included the initial NHL contest on Oct. 2, 2003 when the Flyers were bested by the New York Islanders. On Sept. 25, 2005, the Capitals and Penguins played at GIANT Center in a game that saw Alex Ovechkin take the ice for Washington ahead of his record-setting rookie season. The following year, Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Martin Brodeur helped the New Jersey Devils to a win over the Capitals in Hershey on Sept. 24, 2006.

Nelson, 56, was named the 28th coach of the Bears on August 11, 2022, becoming the 10th former Hershey player to be employed as the club's head coach. During his tenure at the helm of the Bears, Nelson led the team to a record of 141-53-12-10 in 216 regular-season games, for a points percentage of .704, the best mark of any coach in franchise history. He was selected to represent the Bears as the Atlantic Division head coach at the AHL All-Star Classic in Laval, Quebec in 2023 and San Jose, California in 2024.

In the 2022-23 season - aided by a franchise-record 8-0-0-1 point streak on home ice to start the season - Nelson's squad went 44-19-5-4 (.674) to finish with the club's highest points percentage since Hershey's 2009-10 team. The Bears advanced through the Calder Cup Playoffs before facing the expansion Coachella Valley Firebirds in the final round. After falling behind 2-0 in the best-of-seven series, Hershey reeled off three straight wins at home before eventually facing Coachella Valley in a winner-take-all Game 7 on the road. Despite trailing 2-0, the Bears tied the game and ultimately won 3-2 in overtime to give Hershey its 12th Calder Cup championship.

In the 2023-24 season, Nelson guided Hershey to a 53-14-0-5 record to capture the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy as the league's best team in the regular season while setting a league record for most wins in a 72-game campaign and establishing a new franchise single-season record for best points percentage (.771).

For his work, Nelson was named the recipient of the Louis A.R. Pieri Memorial Award for the first time in his coaching career, and became the first Hershey head coach since Spencer Carbery in 2021 to be named the AHL's outstanding coach. He was just the sixth coach in franchise history to earn this honor, joining Carbery (2020-21), John Paddock (1987-88), Doug Gibson (1979-80), Chuck Hamilton (1975-76), and Frank Mathers (1968-69).

The Bears earned a first-round bye as a result of their performance in the regular season, and Nelson again led Hershey through the playoff bracket to a finals matchup with Coachella Valley. The Chocolate and White dispatched the Firebirds in six games this time, as Hershey finished with a 14-6 playoff record to achieve its third set of back-to-back championships (1958-59, 2009-10, 2023-24) and its 13th overall title.

During the 2024-25 campaign, Nelson earned his 433rd AHL head coaching win on Jan. 31 versus Bridgeport to pass Kevin Dineen for fifth among head coaches in AHL history, and coached his 777th game on April 19 versus Lehigh Valley to pass Ken Gernander for ninth in league history in games coached. Hershey posted a 44-20-7-1 (.667) record to finish first in the Atlantic Division and earn a first-round bye for the Calder Cup Playoffs. The Bears defeated the Lehigh Valley Phantoms 3-2 in the best-of-five Atlantic Division Finals to win their ninth consecutive playoff series (2023, 4; 2024, 4, 2025, 1), establishing a new AHL record. Nelson also earned his 31st playoff victory with the Bears, placing him second in franchise history.

Nelson's tenure in the AHL includes time as a head coach with Oklahoma City, Grand Rapids, and Hershey, compiling a 450-242-85 record and winning the 2017 Calder Cup with Grand Rapids, as well as stints as an assistant coach with Grand Rapids and Chicago, winning the 2008 Calder Cup with Chicago, and winning the 1994 Calder Cup as a player with Portland.

A five-time Calder Cup Champion, Nelson makes his return to the NHL, where as a player he was a fourth-round selection of Penguins in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft, and appeared in three regular-season and four playoff games with Pittsburgh and Washington between 1991-94. As a coach in the NHL, Nelson previously led the Edmonton Oilers to a 17-22-7 record as interim head coach in 46 games during the 2014-15 campaign. He has also served as an assistant coach with the Atlanta Thrashers from 2008-10 and the Dallas Stars from 2018-22, where he helped the club to the 2020 Stanley Cup Final. 

Nelson is the fifth Bears head coach in the last 20 seasons to earn a promotion to the NHL, following in the NHL footsteps of Bruce Boudreau (2005-07), Bob Woods (2007-09), Spencer Carbery (2018-21), and Scott Allen (2021-22), who earned coaching positions with Washington (head), Minnesota Wild (assistant), Toronto Maple Leafs (assistant), and Washington (assistant) respectively. He is one of 14 former Bears players or coaches to currently hold a bench coach position in the NHL.

The Bears and Washington Capitals will begin the search for Hershey's new head coach immediately.

Playoff hockey is back in Chocolatetown, as Hershey makes its 72nd appearance in the Calder Cup Playoffs, as the chase for banner No. 14 is officially underway. After securing a first-round bye thanks to finishing atop the Atlantic Division during the 2024-25 regular season, the Bears will play their first games of the 2025 postseason this week.

Hershey gets set to take on the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the best-of-five Atlantic Division Semifinals, with at least two games guaranteed to open the series at GIANT Center, where Bear Nation’s full support will hopefully push the Chocolate and White to another Calder Cup title.

This marks the second consecutive year that the Bears and Phantoms will have faced each other in the Atlantic Division Semifinals, with Hershey claiming the series in Game 4 in Allentown en route to winning its 13th Calder Cup. The Bears and Phantoms have met in six previous postseason series, with the Chocolate and White owning a 5-1 series record. Hershey went 5-4-1-0 versus Lehigh Valley in the 2024-25 regular season, and the Bears are looking to become just the second team in the American Hockey League to win three consecutive Calder Cups, joining the 1960-62 Springfield Indians.

Ready, set, Hersheypark… spring means coaster rides, King Size shakes and character meets are back! Hersheypark amusement park springs back to life on April 5 for its 119th operating year. 

Hersheypark is open for seven spring weekends from April 5 through May 18 for its spring season. Hours vary by day this spring, with extended hours over Easter Weekend (April 18-20):

• Saturdays from April 5 through May 17 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• Sundays from April 6 through May 18 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Easter Sunday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
• Friday, April 18 (Good Friday), and all Fridays in May from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Visit Furry Friends at ZooAmerica

Bring the animal lover in your life to visit ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park. February is a great time to visit this 11-acre zoo as there are often fewer crowds, and the outdoor animals are more active. Take a stroll through the five different animal regions and see species such as gray wolves, river otters, Canada lynx, an alligator and more.

Flutter Your Way through the Butterfly Atrium at Hershey  Gardens

Overlooking the town of Hershey, the 23-acre Hershey Gardens brings guests a breathtaking stroll through an assortment of flowers and shrubs, a stately collection of rare trees, brilliant seasonal displays and themed gardens.

Included with admission, you can walk among hundreds of butterflies from around the world in the Butterfly Atrium. Enjoy a flight of warm drinking chocolates when you book a Chocolate Tasting and experience a taste of chocolates from all over the world. Or, roll up your sleeves and make Valentine’s Day-themed chocolate when you sign up for a class in the Chocolate Lab. Tastings and Chocolate Lab classes are available throughout the week of Valentine’s Day and are the perfect way to immerse yourself in the sweet world that inspired Milton Hershey. 

Chocolate lovers can also sign up for the museum’s Truffles for Couples classes on Feb. 14 and 15. You and your favorite Valentine will have the chance to hand-roll traditional dark chocolate ganache, coat them in your choice of milk or white chocolate, and then finish with a sweet array of toppings. Truffles are packaged in a charming box and each guest will receive a personalized milk chocolate bar and a long-stemmed rose to take home.

Then, on Sunday, Jan. 19, it's Throwback Jersey Auction and Toyota Poster Night as the team takes on the Rochester Americans. Teddy Bear Tosses are well-known promotional events for minor league hockey teams, but there is no Teddy Bear Toss like the Hershey Bears’ GIANT Teddy Bear Toss, set to take place this Sunday afternoon as the Bears host the Providence Bruins with a 3 p.m. ET puck drop.

The Bears are the hockey WORLD RECORD holders for the Teddy Bear Toss, collecting 74,599 stuffed animals at last year's event in a site that truly must be seen.

As part of the club's Hershey Bears Cares initiative, which showcases the philanthropic activities and volunteer efforts of Bears players and staff members throughout the community, teddy bears and stuffed animals are collected and donated to more than 35 local and regional organizations, including Schreiber Pediatric, Vista Autism Services, Middletown School District, Gigi’s Playhouse Lancaster, Central PA Food Bank, Off the Streets, Palmyra Lions Club, Milton and Catherine Hershey Schools, and Autism Society Greater Harrisburg Area. Additionally, the Sweigart Family Foundation has pledged to donate a sum to the Children's Miracle Network which will match the number of stuffed animals thrown on the ice. 

Hershey's annual GIANT Teddy Bear Toss has collected 464,107 teddy bears since its inception in 2001.

Teddy Bear & Friends Day at ZooAmerica

Hershey Bears  GIANT Teddy Bear Toss at GIANT Center

Sunday, Jan. 5 at 3 p.m.

The Hershey Bears are excited to host their annual GIANT Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used teddy bears and plush toys to the game to be thrown on the ice when the Bears score their first goal. There is no limit on how many teddy bears fans can bring, as each donated stuffed animal is collected and donated to more than 30 local organizations in Central Pennsylvania.

 A limited number of tickets for the Teddy Bear Toss Game are currently available, and the game is expected to sell out. For tickets and additional information about the Hershey Bears, please visit HersheyBears.com.

Paw Patrol LIVE! A Mighty Adventure at GIANT Center

January 2024: Hershey Bears Teddy Bear Toss Set New World Record

Sweet, cuddly mayhem delighted once again in Hershey, Pa., at the start of the year. The Hershey Bears, the oldest and most decorated team in the AHL, collected 74,599 teddy bears and stuffed animals during the GIANT Teddy Bear Toss on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024. This total surpassed the club's previous record of 67,309 collected in 2023 and set a new world record. 

April 2024: Hersheypark Debuted New Coaster Ride Experiences

Hersheypark amusement park opened for the 2024 season on March 29 with the debut of new coaster ride experiences on Skyrush and Comet. 

To widespread excitement, the Park upgraded its Skyrush roller coaster flight experience to first class with all-new seats and restraints. Passengers now board Skyrush from a reimagined station platform featuring an all-new paint scheme, lighting effects and custom soundscape, which were really well received in 2024. The investment in the high-thrill attraction provides coaster lovers with added comfort while experiencing the adrenaline rush they know and crave.

Coaster fans who visited Hersheypark in 2024 also got a chance to experience Comet from new custom trains. The oldest continuously operating coaster at the largest amusement park in Pennsylvania features trains with a three-tone blue color scheme and a glittering metal flake treatment.

May 2024: The Villas At The Hotel Hershey Opened

Phase one of The Villas at The Hotel Hershey opened Memorial Day Weekend 2024. The Villas offer an elevated luxury accommodation experience with all-new exclusive amenities in Hershey, Pa. Ten Villas feature 48 reimagined rooms with refreshed furnishings and unmatched amenities, including an all-new exclusive Concierge Lounge with food, drinks and activities, as well as daily Hersheypark tickets and One-Day Fast Track.  

Construction is underway on nine new Villas, which will take luxury and Hershey hospitality to new heights in 2025. This expansion marks the second-largest investment in the 90-year history of The Hotel Hershey.  

May 2024: ZooAmerica Unveiled New Mural 

Also in May 2024, ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park unveiled a new floor-to-ceiling mural in the Admissions Building in partnership with the Milton Hershey School (MHS). The mural includes drawings and paintings of various North American animals done by 20 MHS Senior Division Students. Visitors to the 11-acre Zoo in Hershey are now greeted by beautiful artwork of owls, wolves, eagles, snakes and turtles, to name a few.

June 2024: Hershey Bears Won 13th Calder Cup Championship

The Hershey Bears became back-to-back Calder Cup Champions with a 5-4 overtime victory over the Coachella Valley Firebirds in Game 6 of the 2024 Calder Cup Finals on June 24, 2024. The team raised the coveted Calder Cup in front of a franchise-record crowd of 11,013 at GIANT Center.

June 2024: Hersheypark Camping Resort Introduced Second Tiny Home

Hersheypark Camping Resort introduced a unique new accommodation for campers to enjoy in summer 2024 and beyond. In June, a second tiny home built by talented MHS students joined the campground's lineup of accommodations, which span from tent and RV sites to cozy cabins. 

The inviting 340-square-foot tiny home boasts a cabin-like aesthetic and sleeps up to five. It features a micro kitchen with a stovetop and refrigerator. Guests can gather for campground meals at a collapsible dining table indoors or at a picnic table on the porch. Other amenities include TV, air conditioning and heat, electric and indoor plumbing with a small bathroom and shower. Call 888-710-0917 to make a 2025 reservation.

Summer 2024: Hersheypark Stadium Hosted Record-Breaking Summer Concert Series

It was a historic summer at Hersheypark Stadium! The 30,000-seat venue celebrated 85 years with the longest and largest summer concert season to date. The 2024 Summer Concert Series featured 14 shows, including Morgan Wallen, Justin Timberlake, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Post Malone, Stevie Nicks and P!NK among other top touring acts. 

Summer 2024: Hersheypark Celebrated 50 Years of Hershey Characters

Summer 2024 marked the golden anniversary of Hershey Characters at Hersheypark. In celebration, a live summer show returned to the Chevrolet Music Box Theatre in mid-June for the first time since 2019. Guests were able to cool off during the summer heat wave while seeing Hersh and his friends perform on stage in HPTV Presents: My Sweet Life. 

In addition to the new show, Hersheypark is also the only amusement park in the world where guests can take a selfie with iconic candy brands. Sweet Greets were held at new locations throughout the Park this past summer, with surprise appearances by some older characters.

September 2024: Hersheypark Offered New Haunts During More Halloween Nights

For 25 days, including Halloween night, Hersheypark Halloween and Dark Nights offered five haunted houses, including the all-new Estate of Evil haunted house, three Scare Zones with the new Darkstone’s Hollow: Battle for Spring Creek scare zone, 50 attractions and dark coaster rides, Hershey’s Trick-or-Treat Trail and more - all included with a Hersheypark Halloween ticket. 

The eight-weekend event also featured exclusive culinary creations, including the return of the popular Hersheypark Halloween Tasting Pass, plus the new Avenue Of The Afterlife path with themed food and drink offerings, pop-up retail, live entertainment and the popular Dark Nights character meet and greet. 

November 2024: Hershey Sweet Lights Debuted New Displays and Theming Experiences

Outside of Hersheypark, Hershey Sweet Lights presented by PPL drive-through attraction was open nightly from Nov. 22 through Jan. 1. Among the two miles of fields and wooded trails, guests could see new displays and theming experiences in 2024, including three custom Hershey-themed displays depicting Wildcat’s Revenge hybrid coaster, Jolly Rancher Remix coaster and Hershey Bears hockey.

Other enhancements included a new arrival experience with festive food and retail bundles for purchase, an all-new Northern Lights region, additional uplighting in the Victorian Village and a reimagined attraction exit with a Candy Cane Forest boasting trees and light displays.

Also new this holiday season at Hersheypark, Santa and all nine of his reindeer were in the same themed location called the Mary N. Bright Airfield. Guests could visit Santa and mingle with Mrs. Claus and his elves in the Yule Lounge, see Rudolph and his friends relaxing in Hangar 96, enjoy family-friendly offerings at the Hot Chocolate Express and sip adult libations at Concourse Cocoa Bar. 

November 2024: Hershey Theatre Welcomed Premiere Engagement of Hamilton

Hershey Theatre hosted HAMILTON for a special two-week engagement in November 2024 as part of the 2024-25 Broadway Series of programming. It marked the first time that the award-winning show visited Central, Pa.

Discovery Weekends at ZooAmerica

ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. this winter. Families can bundle up and walk around the 11-acre Zoo while learning about dozens of animals native to our continent, like gray wolves, black bears and Canada lynx. Despite the colder temperatures, winter is often the best time of year to visit ZooAmerica, as the crowds typically are lighter and the animals are more active. 

The Zoo is also hosting Discovery Weekends in January, where kids ages 8 and under can visit for free on Saturdays and Sundays. Each weekend focuses on a different theme with fun activities and learning opportunities. Current ZooAmerica Pass Holders can enjoy unlimited year-round visits to the Zoo, and 2025 Hersheypark Season Pass Holders get into the Zoo for free, too. 

Winter Shows and Concerts in Hershey

There are plenty of opportunities to catch some live entertainment in Hershey this winter. The following acts are coming to the historic Hershey Theatre and 10,500-seat GIANT Center arena through March.

Please note that beginning Jan. 20, 2025, Hershey Theatre will be closed to the public to embark on an important one-year renovation project to update the facility, while preserving its history. 

Hershey Bears Hockey Games at GIANT Center

Hockey fans can cheer for the hometown, back-to-back Calder Cup Champion Hershey Bears AHL team as they defend their title. The Bears will play 16 games at GIANT Center between now and the end of March.

Key promotional nights include the GIANT Teddy Bear Toss Night on Jan. 5 and Hersheypark Pass Nights on Feb. 11 and Mar. 2. All fans attending the Hersheypark Pass Nights will receive a free 2025 Hersheypark ticket, valid for one-day admission through June 30, 2025! Passes will be distributed to all fans upon entry to the game date purchased, valid one pass per game ticket.

The Hershey Bears also offer a Me+3 4-Pack on select December and January games when purchased online by Dec. 31. 

Tuesday Trivia Nights at The Chocolatier

Calling all trivia fans! The Chocolatier Restaurant, Bar + Patio, located just outside of Hersheypark in Hershey's Chocolatetown, hosts Trivia Nights every Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. through March 18. Diners can enjoy delicious appetizers and drinks while playing fun trivia games for a chance to win a prize. Reservations are strongly encouraged.

Annual Orchid Show & Sale at Hershey Gardens

Hershey Gardens is open daily this winter except Jan. 6-10 for maintenance. Visitors can take a stroll through the 23-acre walk-through botanical display garden, featuring an indoor tropical Butterfly Atrium with 600 butterflies from around the world. The atrium is one of only 25 year-round indoor tropical butterfly atriums in the U.S.

Hershey Gardens will host the Susquehanna Orchid Society (SOS) for their 41st annual orchid show and sale from Jan. 31 through Feb. 2 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. More than 1,000 orchids representing dozens of varieties, including rare species and unique hybrids, will be on display in the Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory. Daily orchid show tours and informational sessions will take place in the exhibition and Garden Cottage. In addition, vendors will have orchids for sale; various orchid societies will have showy displays that will be judged onsite and presented with national awards.

Chocolate Lab Classes at The Hershey Story

Those looking for a fun indoor activity to beat the winter blues can head to The Hershey Story Museum to learn all about the life and legacy of Milton S. Hershey, the town he created and the lives he touched. Additional paid experiences are also available, including the Chocolate Lab, where guests can learn about the chocolate-making process from "bean to bar" and create their own chocolate treat. Chocolate Lab Classes are offered daily on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets can be purchased at The Hershey Story⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠ admissions desk on the day of the visit.

Public Ice Skating at Hersheypark Arena

Ice skating is a staple on many people's winter bucket lists. Hersheypark Arena is open for public ice skating on select dates in January through March. Children 3 and under are free, with ticket prices ranging from $5-8 for ages 4+.

At each Hometown Heroes game, seats are reserved for active military and veterans, making the game accessible to the honored people. Military-themed activities add to the celebration, as representatives from the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Army, USO and Wreaths Across America set up booths to interact with fans and raise awareness about their missions. 

On November 10, 2024, the Hometown Heroes game began with a unique puck drop, orchestrated by the U.S. Army Bomb Squad, which deployed a robot alongside a team member in full protective gear. Junior Starters, representing military children in the United Heroes League, stood on the ice with the Bears, highlighting military families' unique connections. After the puck drop, a giant flag was presented by the Army National Guard and the U.S. Army, with enlistees waving it proudly as a local elementary school sang the National Anthem, uniting fans in an undeniable moment of patriotism. Hershey Bears players wore hometown heroes-themed jerseys. These jerseys will be worn again at the Feb. 8th Hometown Heroes game. After that game, the jerseys will be auctioned off with a portion of the jersey sales donated to local organizations.  

Ferrara explained the inspiration behind the Hometown Heroes games, “We try to do something every year to show appreciation to our active service members and veterans.” During intermissions, the audience enjoyed additional tributes. The first intermission featured a swearing-in ceremony for new enlistees, who took an oath on the ice, with fans witnessing the powerful moment firsthand. Later, during the second intermission, artist Cody Sabol completed an evocative finger-painted portrait of a soldier embracing his daughter in under ten minutes. The painting, a tribute to military families, will be auctioned at the next Hometown Heroes game. 

Among the game's attendees, Sergeant First Class Karissa Fave with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard reflected on the event's importance. “I think events like these allow people to see us beyond the uniform and understand that we’re part of the same community,” Fave said. The National Guard, with its distinct role in responding to state emergencies, found it especially meaningful to connect with local fans. 

Nina from Wreaths Across America emphasized the impact of the organization’s message. “Remember, honor, and teach,” said Nina. “It is important for people to understand that our freedom is not free and that veterans and their families have made sacrifices to preserve it."

Chief Corey Mink, from the Navy Recruiting Station in Lebanon, expressed gratitude for the Bears’ tribute. “To take one day to honor all veterans is everything,” Mink stated, underscoring the unity and pride that events like this foster within the military and the community alike. 

The evening resonated with fans, too. A devoted Bears fan, Maureen praised the team’s commitment to military families, noting, “It’s not just about what they do on the ice. The Bears are deeply embedded in this community, and this event shows they truly care about supporting our military.” Another fan, Valery, shared her appreciation for the Bears’ acknowledgment of the military’s sacrifices, saying, “I hope the community realizes just how much has been given up for us.” 

Two young enlistees, Evan and Cole, were sworn in at the ceremony. “It was an amazing experience,” Evan remarked. “To have the crowd cheering was incredible.” Cole echoed his excitement, adding, “Being sworn in at a Hershey Bears game was a great honor as a longtime Bears fan and future soldier.”

For Ferrara, the game sent a clear message: “As an organization, we honor, value, appreciate, and respect our local hometown heroes. We want to give back to the community that supports us in many ways.” She hoped fans would leave with “a feeling of pride and a renewed respect for those who put their lives on the line to protect and serve us.”

To top off a tremendous celebration, the Bears secured a thrilling 3-2 victory in overtime. Yet, the true highlight of the evening was the tribute to those who served. The Hometown Heroes game not only allowed the Bears to show appreciation for the military but also reinforced their commitment to the local community—a relationship built on honor, gratitude, and respect that helps to remind fans of the freedoms that make events like this possible.

The holiday season kicks into high gear at Hersheypark Christmas Candylane this month! The seasonal event is open the first weekend of December, with daily operations running from Dec. 12, 2024, through Jan. 1, 2025 (closed Christmas Day). Tickets include 5 million lights (the most in Pennsylvania), select rides and coasters weather permitting, Santa and all nine of his reindeer, and TREEville trail starting Dec. 6, among other only-in-Hershey experiences. Guests can also warm up with signature hot chocolate, new boozy hot chocolate and festive eats.

Hershey Sweet Lights

Open Nightly Starting at 5 p.m.; Closing Time Varies

Those who prefer to see the Christmas lights from the comfort and warmth of their car can drive through Hershey Sweet Lights presented by PPL Electric Utilities. The two-mile, drive-through Christmas light attraction with nearly 600 illuminated, animated displays is open nightly at 5 p.m. through Jan. 1, 2025. Guests who have visited Hershey Sweet Lights in past years will notice new displays and theming experiences throughout the attraction. 

Pricing is per vehicle and varies per day. Guests are encouraged to buy online to save before their visit, as same-day ticket sales end each night at 5 p.m.

Holiday Spirit's Rooftop Bar at The Chocolatier

Open All Hersheypark Christmas Candylane Operating Days from 5-10 p.m.

Guests of all ages can enjoy a holiday wonderland at Holiday Spirit's Rooftop Bar at The Chocolatier! It's the sweetest place to cozy up around one of the rooftop firepits, sip on seasonal cocktails or decadent hot chocolates (with or without spirits), try the all-new Hot Chocuterie board and watch classic holiday movies.

Wild Winter Adventure at ZooAmerica

ZooAmerica is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. this month (closed Christmas Day). It’s a great time to visit, as many North American animals in outdoor habitats become more active when the temperature drops. 

This month marks the return of Wild Winter Adventure, a 3-hour program to learn about the survival skills that North American animals use in the cold winter months. For the first time, this program will be available for adults on Dec. 7 or 8. The program for children in grades K-5 begins on Dec. 21. Participants will explore ZooAmerica, get up close to certain animals with live encounters, help with animal enrichment activities, make a craft, enjoy a snack and see Santa’s reindeer inside Hersheypark. All children must be pre-registered and prepaid to participate.

Snowball Saturdays at The Hershey Story Museum

Saturday, Dec. 14 and 21; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Friendly, indoor snowball fights are the centerpiece of this holiday event at The Hershey Story Museum. Kids can visit with a friendly snowman and create a wintery craft in the classroom. As a sweet bonus, Chocolate Lab participants can make special winter-themed creations. Chocolate Lab classes require a ticket purchase; other activities are free with admission.

Fall Weekend at Hersheypark 

Nov. 9 - 10

Hersheypark amusement park is open from 12-8 p.m. for a Fall Weekend. It’s not Halloween or Christmas, but an extra Hersheypark weekend in the middle of two seasons for extra fun. 

Weather permitting, guests can enjoy thrills on seven coasters: Candymonium, Cocoa Cruiser, Jolly Rancher Remix, Laff Trakk, sooperdooperLooper, Wild Mouse and Wildcat’s Revenge. Select family-friendly attractions and dining locations will also be open. Plus, visitors can experience ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park, included in the one-price Hersheypark admission when accessing the Zoo from the bridge inside the Park from 12-4:30 p.m.

ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park is open almost every day in November from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (it is closed on Nov. 4 and Thanksgiving Day). This month is a great time to visit the 11-acre zoo in Hershey, as many North American animals in the outdoor habitats, like gray wolves, river otters and Canada Lynx, are more active when the temperature drops.

Tickets are available for purchase online or at the ZooAmerica Admissions Building. Regular admission for guests ages 9-61 is $16.50 plus taxes and fees. Juniors and seniors are $14.50 plus taxes and fees. Children 2 and younger are free. 

Please note that the Zoo naturalists care for the reindeer inside Hersheypark, so a Christmas Candylane ticket is required to view them.

Christmas Candylane features five million lights decking the 121-acre amusement park, holiday thrills on select family rides and seven coasters, a new home for Santa and all nine of his reindeer, TREEville trail (opens Dec. 6) with trees decorated to themes you can only see in Hershey through the water park, and Sweet Greets with the Hershey Characters donning their coziest winter apparel—all included with a ticket. Guests can also warm up with more hot chocolate varieties than ever, with signature hot chocolate, new boozy hot chocolate offerings and a hot chocolate bar. One-of-a-kind sweet treats, including a new Kissmas TREEts Collectible snack container, are also available.

Save the date for savings! Guests can buy early and save when a special Countdown to Candylane pre-sale begins on Nov. 4 and runs through opening night on Nov. 15. Hershey Sweet Lights presented by PPL features two miles of fields and wooded trails decorated with nearly 600 illuminated, animated displays, such as The 12 Days of Christmas, an Enchanted Forest and Hersheypark rides. 

This year, Hershey Sweet Lights presented by PPL features three new Hershey-themed displays that showcase the iconic coasters and 13-time Calder Cup Champion Hershey Bears, as well as an all-new region inspired by the Northern Lights! Plus, guests can enjoy a new arrival experience with festive food and retail bundles for purchase, enhancements to the Victorian Village portion of the attraction, and a new Candy Cane Forest exit boasting uplit trees and light displays.

The game’s programming was geared towards supporting breast cancer awareness and honoring those affected by the disease, including a pre-game puck drop featuring the family of Tiffany O’Donnell, who passed away in August at the age of 43 after braving a hard-fought journey with breast cancer.

Several Bears players used pink stick tape during the course of the game, including Matt Strome and Spencer Smallman, whose grandmothers are both breast cancer survivors, along with defenseman Brad Hunt, who used the stick tape in honor of his cousin’s wife who is also a survivor. Others such as Mike Vecchione and Riley Sutter, while not knowing anyone immediately close to them who had battled breast cancer, nonetheless added the tape to their sticks in solidarity.

The game also featured informative PA announcements and reminders encouraging early breast cancer detection. All fans in attendance received light-up pink wrist bands, signifying unity with the Bears and Penn State Health in the fight against breast cancer.

The Bears will next team up with Penn State Health for Hockey Fights Cancer Night on Saturday, Nov. 30 against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Joining the efforts of the National Hockey League, Hockey Fights Cancer unites the hockey community in support of cancer patients and their families. 

Before the puck dropped on the campaign, the team celebrated the start of a new season with the return of the popular Red Carpet Arrival event, with players and coaches making their entrance through the front of GIANT Center to the delight of Bear Nation. Once inside the rink and the house lights went dark, players and staff for the 2024-25 season were introduced before the returning members of the Chocolate and White raised their 2024 Calder Cup championship banner to the rafters of GIANT Center in a special pre-game ceremony.

Once the puck hit the ice, it was an all-out battle against the Monsters in a rematch of last spring’s thrilling best-of-seven Eastern Conference Finals won in overtime by Garrett Roe’s sudden-death goal that sent Hershey to its league-leading 25th appearance in the Calder Cup Finals, where the Bears ultimately defeated the Coachella Valley Firebirds in six games to hoist their league-record 13th postseason title.

Third-year forward Ethen Frank led the way, recording a hat trick – Hershey’s first in an Opening Night game since Andrew Gordon on Oct. 3, 2009 vs. Norfolk – to earn his 100th career point in a Bears sweater, as a full-throated sellout crowd of 10,588 cheered the Bears on to a 7-3 victory over Cleveland.

The Bears commemorated their status as reigning back-to-back champions by wearing specialty jerseys for the weekend that were auctioned off following Sunday’s game against the Monsters, in support of the Hershey Bears Cares charitable initiative.

Catch all of the action this season at GIANT Center as the Bears look to defend their title and become just the second team in league history to win three straight Calder Cups. The Bears are back on home ice on Saturday, Oct. 19 when they face the Chicago Wolves for the first time since the 2005-06 season for Pink the Rink Night, presented by Penn State Health.

Hersheypark Halloween and Dark Nights

Dark Nights begins each night at 6 p.m. and extends one hour after the Park closes - Fridays and Saturdays until 11 p.m. and Sundays until 10 p.m.

Creatures Of The Night at ZooAmerica 

ZooAmerica is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with Creatures Of The Night offered from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday

ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park is open daily over the long holiday weekend to explore the wild of North America.  It's also the first weekend of the popular Creatures Of The Night event. The Halloween-themed after-hours experience from 6-9 p.m. is the only time of year the Zoo is open after dark to observe the nighttime habits of the nocturnal North American animals. Visitors are encouraged to bring flashlights to see black bears, Canada lynx, gray wolves, river otters and more during a walk around the 11-acre zoo in the heart of Hershey.

Creatures Of The Night is included with admission to ZooAmerica, as well as Hersheypark Halloween only when accessing the Zoo from the bridge inside Hersheypark. Separate admission, starting at $14.50 plus taxes and fees, is also available online or at the ZooAmerica admissions building for guests who plan to attend just Creatures Of The Night.

Guests can purchase the Tasting Pass online or in person. They will receive a punch card to scan for each usage.

Visit Spirit's Rooftop Bar
The Chocolatier Restaurant, Bar + Patio will continue to offer Spirit’s Rooftop Bar all month during Hersheypark Halloween and Dark Nights operating days, starting at 4:30 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Guests who dare to explore can order new items from a delicious limited-time menu while enjoying haunted rooftop vibes. The Chocolatier patio entrance to Spirit's Rooftop Bar is only accessible inside Hersheypark on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not accepted.

Creatures of The Night at ZooAmerica Starts October 11

ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park is open daily this month from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended hours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Oct. 11-13, 18-20 and 25-27 for its popular Creatures Of The Night event. 

The Halloween event is the only time of year ZooAmerica is open after dark, so guests of all ages are encouraged to bring a flashlight and curiosity to explore the nighttime habits of the nocturnal North American animals. Special activities and themed displays are also offered from 6-9 p.m.
