Born September 13, 1857, Mr. Hershey went on to become one of America’s most successful entrepeneurs and greatest humanitarians. He chose to build a model community where his chocolate factory employees could comfortably and happily live, work and play. Most importantly, he and his wife, Catherine, left their entire fortune to children in need, establishing Milton Hershey School (MHS).

Mr. Hershey's legacy remains woven into every corner of The Sweetest Place On Earth, even 169 years after his birth. Explore these key landmarks throughout Hershey to learn more about his history and impact:

1826 - The Homestead

The Homestead is the birthplace of Milton S. Hershey, and where he would perfect his famous milk chocolate formula. In 1910, The Homestead also served as the first school building and residence for the boys of the Hershey Industrial School, known as Milton Hershey School.

1905 - Original Hershey Chocolate Factory

Milton S. Hershey made his first fortune with caramels, but he made lasting history with the decision to build a chocolate factory and town in what is known today as Hershey, Pennsylvania. It was here that Mr. Hershey transformed America's confectionery market by making chocolate affordable for everyone. For more than a century, the factory was the heart of the community and an iconic symbol of the company. In 2015, the historic building became home to The Hershey Company corporate offices.

1906 - Hersheypark

Milton S. Hershey strongly believed that opportunities for recreation would be critical to the success of his model town. He set aside 150 acres of land for a park that would serve as leisure grounds for the community and his employees. From these hubmle beginnings, Hersheypark has grown into a premier amusement park that welcomes guests from around the world to experience Hersheypark Happy.

1908 - High Point

The home of Milton and Catherine Hershey was named to reflect its location on a hill above the chocolate factory. During their lifetime, the Hersheys often invited the community to enjoy High Point's remarkable gardens. The historic building has also served as home to the Hershey Country Club, as well as corporate offices for Hershey Foods Corporation, now The Hershey Company, and Hershey Trust Company.

1909 - Milton Hershey School

Unable to have a family of their own, Milton and Catherine's dream was to provide a quality education and nurturing home environment for children as part of their legacy. Using the profits from the chocolate company, Milton and Catherine Hershey founded Milton Hershey School (MHS) in 1909. Since then, the lives of thousands of children in need have been transformed through a cost-free education and structured home life. The School currently serves students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, who come from income-eligible families, and has nearly 2,200 students enrolled and boasts more than 12,000+ alumni. 1930 - Hershey Country Club

The first floor of Milton S. Hershey's High Point home served as the original clubhouse, and the golf courses were designed by world-renowned architects. Noted PGA legends, Henry Picard and Ben Hogan served as head golf professionals. Hershey Country Club hosted the 1940 PGA Championship where Byron Nelson defeated Sam Snead 1 up in the 36-hole final. Because of its rich history, Hershey was considered by some to be the “Golf Capital of America.”

1930 - Parkview Manor

Originally constructed as the Hershey Park Golf Course Clubhouse, this historic building has long served the Hershey community. In 1970, Hershey Estates, now Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company, coined the name Parkview Manor and renovated the space to serve as one of its corporate offices.

1933 - The Hotel Hershey

To stimulate the local economy during the Great Depression, Milton S. Hershey commissioned a magnificent hotel inspired by his Mediterranean travels. The project employed more than 800 workers. The Hotel Hershey is known as one of the finest Historic Hotels of America and is a AAA Four-Diamond Recipient.

1934 - Catherine Hall

Named in honor of Catherine Hershey, the school above Hersheypark was originally constructed as a junior-senior high school. It underwent several renovations to meet the growing needs of Milton Hershey School. In 2007, Catherine Hall became the middle school division and welcomed students in grades 5-8 for the first time.

1937 - Hershey Gardens

Set on a hill overlooking Hershey, Hershey Gardens was created at Milton S. Hershey's request to create a "nice garden of roses." Now a dazzling 23 acres, it features colorful theme gardens and a stately collection of specimen trees. The Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory, which opened in 2016, features the tropical Butterfly Atrium, which is one of only 25 butterfly atriums in the country with dozens of butterflies on display.

1939 - Hersheypark Stadium

Hersheypark Stadium was one of Hershey's major tourist attractions, known for hosting thrilling automobile races, concerts and high-profile events. The Stadium continues to host world-class talent under the stars.

1967 - Hershey Lodge

Hershey Lodge originally opened as Hershey Motor Lodge. The demand for overnight accommodations rapidly increased and in response, the family resort expanded to add rooms, restaurants, recreation, and convention space. The deluxe accommodations offered at Hershey Lodge helped the town transition to a major entertainment and leisure destination, and today boasts 665 guest rooms and 16 suites.

1970 - Founders Hall

Founders Hall is a tribute to Milton and Catherine Hershey and the many individuals who helped lay the foundation for Milton Hershey School. Visitors to Founders Hall are left with a lasting impression of how the Hersheys' generosity continues to provide for children in need. The illuminated glass rotunda is one of the most iconic elements of the Hershey skyline.

1973 - Hershey's Chocolate World Attraction

Opened to provide visitors with Hershey's-themed confectionery experiences, Hershey's Chocolate World attraction features a free tour ride that offers a "behind-the-scenes look" at how Hershey's famous milk chocolate is made. Guests can celebrate their love of Hershey's all year long with a collection of chocolate and candy-centric attractions.

2009 - The Hershey Story The Museum on Chocolate Avenue

Located in downtown Hershey under the iconic Hershey's Kisses street lights, The Hershey Story takes visitors on an inspirational journey through Milton S. Hershey's lifetime and beyond, a tale spanning more than 150 years of trials and triumphs. Inspired by Mr. Hershey's own candy-making apprenticeship, guests can taste and create all things Hershey.

This year’s celebration will be expanded as the community prepares for the nationwide theatrical release of HERSHEY, a new film chronicling the life and legacy of Milton Hershey, arriving in theaters this Thanksgiving. Starring Finn Wittrock as Milton Hershey and Alexandra Daddario as his wife, Catherine “Kitty” Hershey, the film brings the story of Hershey’s founder and the community and school he created to audiences across the country.

“This year’s expanded festivities give us an opportunity to celebrate Milton Hershey’s birthday and honor the remarkable vision and legacy of a man whose ideas and generosity continue to shape the community he founded more than a century ago,” said Amy Zeigler, senior director, The Hershey Story Museum. “We welcome everyone to join us on this special day.”

Half-Off Museum Experience Admission

In addition to Milton Hershey’s Birthday Celebration at Chocolate Town Square Park, The Hershey Story Museum will celebrate Milton Hershey’s birthday by offering half-off admission to the Museum Experience on Sunday, Sept. 13. 

The immersive, self-guided experience tells the rags-to-riches story of Milton Hershey, the company he created, the town of Hershey, and the school he and his wife founded for disadvantaged children. In addition to interactive stations that tell the many stories of America’s most famous chocolatier, the Museum Experience features equipment from the original factory, personal artifacts belonging to Milton and Catherine Hershey, vintage Hershey’s packaging, and items from the town’s early years.

Guests can also celebrate Milton Hershey’s birthday by participating in the “Celebration Caramels” Chocolate Lab Class on Sept. 12 and 13 at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Participants will dip rich butter caramels, made in-house, in milk chocolate and also learn the history behind Milton Hershey’s success and his beginnings in the caramel industry before venturing into chocolate. Ticket purchase is required; children must be at least five years old to participate in a Chocolate Lab class.

On its route from Lebanon to Enola, Pennsylvania, the steam locomotive passed directly by ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park and Hersheypark amusement park. 

As the locomotive neared the iconic smokestacks upon entering Hershey, it received a sweet greeting from the Dry Gulch Railroad—one of the few remaining amusement park railways in the United States that still operates on actual steam power—which sounded its whistle in welcome.

Dry Gulch Railroad, a beloved staple of Hersheypark, marks a remarkable 65 years of operation in 2026, having officially opened its rails for scenic rides on April 23, 1961, according to the Hershey Community Archives. This miniature reproduction of a 19th-century steam-powered train is operated by steam engine engineers, using real steam engines to traverse its scenic route through the Pioneer Frontier region of Hersheypark. The family-friendly attraction for guests of all Hershey’s height categories operates during all four seasons at Hersheypark, weather and maintenance permitting.

Starring Finn Wittrock (The Big Short, Don’t Move, American Horror Story) and Alexandra Daddario (The White Lotus, True Detective, San Andreas), the upcoming film explores the extraordinary history of chocolate pioneer Milton Hershey and his beloved wife Catherine, revealing how a man who failed in business multiple times before creating an iconic chocolate empire chose to channel his success into a legacy of education and community that continues to transform lives today.

Ride all day at Hersheypark

For 120 years, Hersheypark has been known as a clean and green destination for family fun. The 121-acre amusement park is open daily through Sept. 7 (Labor Day) for coaster rides, King Size Shakes, Hershey Character selfies and water park splashes.

Families Can Ride Together: Hersheypark features a unique layout with 121 acres of outdoor attractions surrounded by shady trees, ample green spaces and fresh Pennsylvania air. Unlike other parks, Hersheypark was specifically designed with thrill rides in the same area as kiddie rides, so families don’t have to split up throughout the Park. One exception is Carrousel Circle, with many rides for the youngest guests. 

Kiddie Swap: Ideal for families, Hersheypark offers a Kiddie Swap program where one parent may ride while the other stays with the child and then, at the conclusion of the initial ride, the parents may "swap" places. Similarly, if one parent has two children who meet the height restriction but must be accompanied by a responsible rider, or who do not wish to ride alone, the parent may ride with one child while the other child waits in an appropriate ride area. At the conclusion of the initial ride, the parent may remain on the ride while the children "swap" places. 

Character Photo Opportunities: In addition to the rides, a beloved family tradition is taking a photo of children next to the Hershey Character-themed height categories in Hershey’s Chocolatetown as they grow each year. And, of course, Hersheypark is the only amusement park in the world where guests can snap a selfie with a Hershey Character. In celebration of the nation's semiquincentennial, Hersh, Miss Kiss and Reese are dressed in their patriotic attire this summer!

Sweet Treats: It wouldn’t be a trip to Hershey without treats kids love, from award-winning King Size Shakes (celebrating 10 years) to funnel cakes with Hershey's candies. For the ultimate sweetness, guests should visit Milton’s Ice Cream Parlor in Hershey’s Chocolatetown. Inspired by Mr. Hershey's early ventures in sweetness that came before his famous chocolate factory, expert Ice Creamologists craft custom creations from 100% local dairy house-made ice cream, Hershey's candy toppings, decadent sauces and more. Cool Off At The Water Park

After working up a sweat riding coasters this summer, park-goers can cool off at The Boardwalk at Hersheypark, an 11-acre water park located inside Hersheypark that is included with admission from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The Boardwalk has one million gallons of water among 16 water attractions, including two new water play areas, water slides, a water coaster, a lazy river and more. 

New for Summer 2026: Hersheypark recently debuted an enhancement to its water park, which is located within the amusement park and accessible via a single admission. The existing Bayside Pier kiddie wave pool with a zero-depth entry ramp and rolling waves now features two new water play areas boasting 45 aquatic elements for summer 2026. 

• A new shade-filled play zone, The Inlet at Bayside Pier, features water-spouting dolphins and fish, and whimsical water spray features.
• The Island at Bayside Pier debuts towering 10-foot-tall palm trees that tip buckets of refreshing water. 

Both new areas feature rubberized decking for additional guest comfort, allowing guests to sit and splash under shaded canopies. The new open design also allows families to seamlessly flow between other water attractions and cool off faster with access to the abundant water features. 

In addition to The Inlet and The Island at Bayside Pier, The Boardwalk has other kid-friendly water attractions. Shoreline Sprayground is an all-ages water fun playground with misters, bubblers, dancing fountains, spraying jets, water curtains and a drenching tipping bucket. The Boardwalk is also home to East Coast Waterworks, an attraction that boasts more than 600 interactive water features. The biggest splash comes from a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket for those looking to get drenched on a hot summer day.

See Dozens of North American Animals At The Zoo

ZooAmerica is an 11-acre walk-through zoo that cares for animals representing more than 60 species from five regions of North America. Guests can see gray wolves, a black bear, Canada lynx, a river otter, elk and other animals native to this continent.

Families with young animal lovers should consider elevating their zoo experience with a behind-the-scenes tour. ZooAmerica offers two special tours that guide participants through non-public areas, get them close to the animals and leave them with a deeper understanding of the animal world. Premium feeding experiences are also available, which includes admission to ZooAmerica.

ZooAmerica is included with a Hersheypark ticket only when accessing the Zoo through the Hersheypark bridge during posted Park hours. Regular admission to ZooAmerica is $16.50 plus taxes and fees. Juniors ages 3-8 and seniors ages 62+ are $14.50 plus taxes and fees. Children 2 and under are free.

Create Your Own Candy Bar

Conveniently located just across the plaza from Hersheypark, Hershey's Chocolate World is the official visitors center of The Hershey Company with many fun activities for families. 

Guests can learn how tropical cocoa beans become Hershey’s Chocolate on a free chocolate factory tour ride and participate in various paid experiences, including Create Your Own Candy Bar, Hershey’s Unwrapped: A Chocolate Tasting Journey, Reese’s Stuff Your Cup and Hershey Trolley Works. Plus, sip milkshakes and embrace the feeling of being a kid in a candy store as you browse their selection of Hershey’s exclusive chocolates and retail.

Pay a Visit to the Museum

The Hershey Story in downtown Hershey provides an interactive museum experience for children and adults alike, making it an excellent stop for the whole family. Hershey Gardens is a 23-acre walk-through botanical display garden that offers 11 themed gardens, including thousands of roses in the summer and a Children’s Garden with interactive play areas, a performance space and a place for students to learn how to grow food. During a visit, guests can check out the Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory, which includes a year-round indoor tropical Butterfly Atrium featuring hundreds of colorful butterflies from around the world. Families should start the day with a family breakfast at Fire & Grain. Located inside Hershey Lodge, the restaurant offers breakfast daily either as a buffet or a la carte menu based on availability. Children’s menus and buffet pricing are available, and kids receive their beverage served in a Hershey’s kid’s cup. Dinner and happy hour are also available daily at Fire & Grain.

Grab Lunch at The Chocolatier

Families looking for a fun lunch or dinner spot should consider making a reservation at The Chocolatier Restaurant, Bar + Patio located in Hershey’s Chocolatetown. The full-service restaurant, bar and patio is open daily this summer and features nods to past and present elements from the Hersheypark ride collection, one-of-a-kind views of neighboring attractions and two bars. An open kitchen serves up classic family fare with a fun spin and hints of chocolate. Families can sit in a Tilt-A-Whirl booth at The Chocolatier to enjoy a Ferris Wheel sampler, popular burgers and a signature dessert menu filled with Hershey's chocolate-inspired treats like over-the-top milkshakes. 

Eat Dinner at Hershey Social Restaurant + Bar

Hershey Social, downtown Hershey's newest restaurant and bar experience, is open daily lunch and dinner. The space serves bold flavors and signature cocktails to sip, savor and socialize, plus fun, interactive darts for the whole family.

Cheer On Your Team At The Bears' Den

For families, sports fans and guests of all ages, The Bears' Den offers a fun hockey-rink atmosphere modeled after the hometown team, the Hershey Bears. New Hotel Joins The Official Resorts of Hersheypark - Spring 2026

Hershey Inn & Suites, a new select service hotel, is now accepting reservations ahead of its spring 2026 opening. New Restaurant Celebrates Destination Offerings - Spring 2026

Hershey Social Restaurant + Bar will also open in spring 2026, located near the iconic corner of Cocoa and Chocolate Avenue in downtown Hershey. Hershey Social will bring bold flavors, shareable apps, savory entrees, signature cocktails and over-the-top desserts inspired by Hershey’s chocolate roots to the vibrant downtown area. The reimagined space will feature a casual setting and an expanded bar, perfect for families and friends to sip, savor and socialize. The new restaurant will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. 

Hershey Social Restaurant + Bar will join 14 other restaurants in the Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company portfolio throughout Hershey. 

Hersheypark Water Park Enhancements - Summer 2026

Hersheypark, the largest amusement park in Pennsylvania, will kick off its 120th season on April 3, 2026. Guests can enjoy four distinct seasonal events, including a sweet summer showcasing new water play areas in The Boardwalk At Hersheypark water park. 

Located within the 121-acre Hersheypark, the existing Bayside Pier area in the water park will also feature two new water play areas boasting 45 aquatic elements for summer 2026: 

• A new shade-filled play zone, The Inlet at Bayside Pier, will feature water-spouting dolphins and fish, and whimsical water spray features.
• The Island at Bayside Pier will debut towering 10-foot-tall palm trees that tip buckets of refreshing water. 

Both new areas will feature rubberized decking for additional guest comfort, allowing guests to sit and splash under shaded canopies. The new open design will also allow families to seamlessly flow between other water attractions and cool off faster with access to the abundant water features. 

Open daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day, The Boardwalk At Hersheypark features 17 attractions and one million gallons of water—from thrilling water slides and a water coaster to a lazy river for relaxation seekers and zero-depth entry areas for the youngest water lovers. Designed to honor the iconic boardwalks of the East Coast, The Boardwalk water park is included in the one-price admission to Hersheypark, offering three experiences in one for guests of all ages to cool off during the summer.

America 250 Summer Celebration - June to July 2026

This summer, Hersheypark will host themed activities to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with special entertainment, ride overlays and fireworks, with more details to be shared this spring.

Live Entertainment in Hershey - Summer 2026

Also this summer, Hersheypark Stadium will again host the Summer Concert Series with acts from Guns ‘N Roses and Chris Stapleton to Forrest Frank and Pitbull. New for summer 2026, an additional Premium Viewing Deck (the second for the historic Stadium) will allow guests premium seating, access to exclusive food and beverage options, a dedicated restroom and designated parking and entrance. 

Hersheypark Stadium is also undergoing a construction project to improve back-of-house areas, including dressing rooms and loading zones to better accommodate tour production needs for future world-class entertainers.

These additions continue the momentum of 2025 as the destination debuted a record-setting ride at Hersheypark, opened a new restaurant honoring the unique history of The Hotel Hershey and doubled the number of luxury accommodations available at The Villas At The Hotel Hershey. 

1933 Restaurant & Tavern, a full-service restaurant and tavern at The Hotel Hershey, opened in April with an approachable steakhouse menu, elevated pub fare, signature cocktails, and curated draught beer and wine selections. Riders ascend 137 adrenaline-pumping feet, defy gravity at speeds reaching 68 miles per hour and experience multiple mind-bending zero G moments as they swing high above Spring Creek in The Hollow region of Hersheypark.

In late summer, The Hotel Hershey completed a historic expansion of luxury accommodations at The Villas At The Hotel Hershey as 19 Villas now offer guests 98 new luxury rooms. A holiday tradition for more than 40 years, Hersheypark Christmas Candylane is a Pennsylvania staple, boasting the most lights of any amusement park in the state and the one of the only places in the Northeast to see all nine of Santa’s live reindeer, including Rudolph. The seasonal event at Hersheypark is also one of the few remaining places in the Northeast to see holiday lights from high-thrill roller coasters! 

Hersheypark Christmas Candylane

Hersheypark Christmas Candylane opens to the public on select dates and all weekends from Nov. 14, 2025, through Jan. 4, 2026. Extended hours are offered around Thanksgiving week, with daily operations starting Dec. 18 (closed on Christmas Day). Hours vary by day. 

The USA TODAY 10Best-nominated theme park holiday event features five million lights, including the NOEL light show timed to music, for guests to enjoy while walking around with signature hot chocolate or taking a ride on family favorites and seven coasters, weather permitting. Christmas Candylane marks the first winter for Twizzlers Twisted Gravity Screamin’ Swing and the holiday-tastic Shaq-A-Licious Laff Trakk.

For the first time since 2019, Hersheypark will offer an all-new holiday stage show, Twinkling Thru Time, inside the heated Chevrolet Music Box Theatre venue. Guests can turn back the clock and step into a wondrous world where timeless holiday traditions meet iconic Christmas hits! 

Other festive entertainment offerings include seeing Santa and all nine of his live reindeer in the themed Mary N. Bright Airfield experience near Fahrenheit coaster, Holly Jolly Sweet Greets meetups with the Hershey Characters in a new location at Overlook Arcade, Our Friends From The Sea Shows in the Aquatheatre, and TREEville Trail, starting Nov. 26, throughout the water park.

Hershey Sweet Lights Presented by PPL Drive-Through Attraction

Up the road from Hersheypark is the separately ticketed Hershey Sweet Lights presented by PPL drive-through attraction open nightly from Nov. 14 through Jan. 4, including Christmas evening; hours vary. 

From the comfort of their cars, guests can enjoy two miles of fields and wooded trails decorated with over 500 illuminated, animated displays, including The 12 Days of Christmas, an Enchanted Forest, Hersheypark rides, Hershey Bears hockey, as well as a region inspired by the Northern Lights.

Planting Roots in Chocolate and In Hershey

1826 - The Homestead

The Homestead is the birthplace of Milton S. Hershey, and where he would perfect his famous milk chocolate formula. In 1910, The Homestead also served as the first school building and residence for the boys of the Hershey Industrial School, known as the Milton Hershey School.

1886 - Lancaster Caramel Company

Lancaster Caramel Company was Milton S. Hershey's third confectionery venture and first taste of success. Hershey's top-of-the-line caramels were manufactured under the Crystal A trademark. The company employed 1,400 workers across 4 factories. In spring 1900, Mr. Hershey sold the business for $1 million in order to pursue chocolate with the belief that “Caramels are a fad, but chocolate is permanent.”

1905 - Original Hershey Chocolate Factory

Milton S. Hershey made his first fortune with caramels, but he made lasting history with the decision to build a chocolate factory and town in what is known today as Hershey, Pennsylvania. It was here that Mr. Hershey transformed America's confectionery market by making chocolate affordable for everyone. For more than a century, the factory was the heart of the community and an iconic symbol of the company. In 2015, the historic building became home to The Hershey Company corporate offices.

1908 - High Point

The home of Milton and Catherine Hershey was named to reflect its location on a hill above the chocolate factory. During their lifetime, the Hersheys often invited the community to enjoy High Point's remarkable gardens. The historic building has also served as home to the Hershey Country Club, as well as corporate offices for Hershey Foods Corporation, now The Hershey Company, and Hershey Trust Company.

1906 - Hersheypark

Milton S. Hershey strongly believed that opportunities for recreation would be critical to the success of his model town. He set aside 150 acres of land for a park that would serve as leisure grounds for the community. Hersheypark has grown into a premier family theme park that welcomes guests from around the world to experience Hersheypark Happy all year long.

1930 - Hershey Country Club

The first floor of Milton S. Hershey's High Point home served as the original clubhouse, and the golf courses were designed by world-renowned architects. Noted PGA legends, Henry Picard and Ben Hogan served as head golf professionals. Hershey Country Club hosted the 1940 PGA Championship where Byron Nelson defeated Sam Snead 1 up in the 36-hole final. Because of its rich history, Hershey was considered by some to be the “Golf Capital of America.”

1930 - Parkview Manor

Originally constructed as the Hershey Park Golf Course Clubhouse, this historic building has long served the Hershey community. In 1970, Hershey Estates, now Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company, coined the name Parkview Manor and renovated the space to serve as one of its corporate offices.

1933 - The Hotel Hershey

To stimulate the local economy during the Great Depression, Milton S. Hershey commissioned a magnificent hotel inspired by his Mediterranean travels. The project employed more than 800 workers. The Hotel Hershey is known as one of the finest Historic Hotels of America and is a AAA Four-Diamond Recipient.

1937 - Hershey Gardens

Set on a hill overlooking Hershey, Hershey Gardens was created at Milton S. Hershey's request to create a "nice garden of roses." Now a dazzling 23 acres, it features colorful theme gardens and a stately collection of specimen trees. The Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory, which opened in 2016, features the tropical Butterfly Atrium, which is one of only 25 butterfly atriums in the country with dozens of butterflies on display.

1939 - Hersheypark Stadium

Hersheypark Stadium was one of Hershey's major tourist attractions, known for hosting thrilling automobile races, concerts and high-profile events. The Stadium continues to host world-class talent under the stars.

1967 - Hershey Lodge

Hershey Lodge originally opened as Hershey Motor Lodge. The demand for overnight accommodations rapidly increased and in response, the family resort expanded to add rooms, restaurants, recreation, and convention space. The deluxe accommodations offered at Hershey Lodge helped the town transition to a major entertainment and leisure destination, and today boasts 665 guest rooms and 16 suites.

1973 - Hershey's Chocolate World Attraction

Opened to provide visitors with Hershey's-themed confectionery experiences, Hershey's Chocolate World attraction features a free tour ride that offers a "behind-the-scenes look" at how Hershey's famous milk chocolate is made. Guests can celebrate their love of Hershey's all year long with a collection of chocolate and candy-centric attractions.

2009 - The Hershey Story The Museum on Chocolate Avenue

Located in downtown Hershey under the iconic Hershey's Kisses street lights, The Hershey Story takes visitors on an inspirational journey through Milton S. Hershey's lifetime and beyond, a tale spanning more than 150 years of trials and triumphs. Inspired by Mr. Hershey's own candy-making apprenticeship, guests can taste and create all things Hershey.

1909 - Milton Hershey School

Unable to have a family of their own, Milton and Catherine's dream was to provide a quality education and nurturing home environment for children as part of their legacy. Using the profits from the chocolate company, Milton and Catherine Hershey founded Milton Hershey School (MHS) in 1909. Since then, the lives of thousands of children in need have been transformed through a cost-free education and structured home life. The School currently serves students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, who come from income-eligible families, and has nearly 2,200 students enrolled and boasts more than 12,000+ alumni.  Learn more at mhskids.org. 

1934 - Catherine Hall

Named in honor of Catherine Hershey, the school above Hersheypark was originally constructed as a junior-senior high school. It underwent several renovations to meet the growing needs of Milton Hershey School. In 2007, Catherine Hall became the middle school division and welcomed students in grades 5-8 for the first time.

1970 - Founders Hall

Founders Hall is a tribute to Milton and Catherine Hershey and the many individuals who helped lay the foundation for Milton Hershey School. Visitors to Founders Hall are left with a lasting impression of how the Hersheys' generosity continues to provide for children in need. The illuminated glass rotunda is one of the most iconic elements of the Hershey skyline.

While many of our guests may know our special connection to MHS, they may not realize that the Hershey's Chocolatetown region at Hersheypark features special projects done in partnership with MHS.

Project Background

At MHS, all students enroll in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. These classes include areas such as Agriculture/Natural Resources, Automotive Technology, Business/Financial Management, Culinary Arts, and Computer Science. The CTE curriculum gives students the opportunity for hands-on work in the classroom, and via internships and apprenticeships. HE&R is proud to host MHS student interns, co-ops, and apprentices throughout the school year and summer with HE&R team members serving as supervisors in careers aligned with the CTE area.

Over the last several years, MHS students and HE&R mentors have worked on many projects, with a focus on Hersheypark's newest region, Hershey's Chocolatetown. When you visit Hershey's Chocolatetown, be sure to check out this collaborative work. 

1. Milton Hershey School Arrival Experience

Located near Tram Circle in Hershey's Chocolatetown is an interactive arrival experience giving our guests an opportunity to learn more about the School. Just to the left of the Park's main entrance, guests can explore the large digital display featuring all the ways in which MHS honors the legacy of Milton S. Hershey. This digital display includes a tour of the expansive MHS campus, a thorough timeline of the School's history, and offers a detailed look at the opportunities available to students. Guests can also take a picture next to a statue of Sparty, the official mascot of MHS!

2. Ride Elements

Hershey's Chocolatetown is home to three unique dining experiences, and if you look closely, you'll see work completed by MHS students.

Guests visiting The Chocolatier Restaurant, Bar and Patio will notice some elements from the Hersheypark ride collection on the second-story patio. An antique car from the Twin Turnpike attraction, celebrating 50 years in 2025, and three Fender Bender cars were refurbished by MHS Automotive Technology CTE students. Located next to the patio bar, guests are encouraged to sit in them and take photos while enjoying one-of-a-kind views of Hershey's Chocolatetown.

3. Carpentry Project

Additionally, carpentry students from MHS crafted a pair of 10-foot-long tabletops from rough-cut white oak to create twin Founders Tables in the dining room of The Chocolatier. Guests can enjoy lunch or dinner at these stunning tables located near large arched windows that provide an incredible view of the historic Carrousel and the Candymonium hypercoaster.

4. Culinary Offerings

MHS Culinary students, in collaboration with The Chocolatier Executive Chef Rick Larsen and his team, also created the Chicken & Waffles entree found on The Chocolatier menu. The signature dish is inspired by one of Mr. Hershey's favorite dishes when he used to visit the Park - it has also become a guest favorite, too! These same students helped inspire some of the restaurant's mocktail offerings. 

5. Beautiful Front Entrance Landscaping

Hershey's Chocolatetown features a reimagined arrival experience, with a warm welcome gate proudly showcasing our pinwheel logo. Every year, MHS Agricultural and Natural Resources students work with our landscaping crews to harvest and plant special horticulture elements that make the region pop each season.

6. Kisses  Bell

As guests enter Hershey's Chocolatetown, they might see (or hear) the Kisses Bell, located in the four-sided pitched roof tower on the front of the Ticketing Services building in Tram Circle. The custom-designed bell is held up by a beam signed by students at MHS to commemorate their role in developing key elements of the Chocolatetown project and at the heart of our organization's Core Purpose.

Hershey Gardens originally opened in 1937 as a 3.5-acre rose garden out of Milton Hershey’s request to create “a nice garden of roses.” When it first opened, the 3.5-acre garden was called Hershey Rose Garden.

Today’s Historic Hershey Rose Garden (as the original 3.5 acres are now called) is virtually identical to the original 1937 rose garden and is the only local attraction with a large colorful rose display.

Zoology Zone Interactive Cart

Every Monday through Thursday beginning Monday, June 23, through Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025
9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Included in admission, the Zoology Zone interactive cart features a rotating variety of small reptiles, amphibians, insects and arachnids. Guests will learn about the native habitats of creatures, interesting adaptations and other cool facts while experiencing each animal up close.

Hersheypark amusement park is now open every day from May 23 (Memorial Day Weekend) through Sept. 2 (Labor Day), with more summer hours, new coaster ride experiences on Skyrush and Comet, new entertainment offerings celebrating 50 years of Hershey Characters and more. The Boardwalk At Hersheypark water park will also open over the holiday weekend on May 25.

But that's not all! Phase one of The Villas at The Hotel Hershey luxury accommodations is now open. Ten Villas feature reimagined rooms, new amenities like a concierge lounge and a Hersheypark experience including Park tickets and One-Day Fast Track program. The amusement park of every chocolate lover's dreams features three parks in one – all accessible via a single admission this summer. 

Hersheypark

The largest amusement park in Pennsylvania has something for everyone, whether you are a first-time rider or coaster conqueror. More than 70 family-friendly rides, including 15 coasters, are open this summer, weather and maintenance permitting. New for 2024, thrill seekers can enjoy new ride experiences on two iconic coasters, Skyrush and Comet. 

Last summer, Hersheypark debuted Wildcat’s Revenge coaster, its 15th coaster and first hybrid, as part of an iconic coaster collection. Wildcat’s Revenge won the Amusement Today Golden Ticket Award for Best New Roller Coaster of 2023 and ranked #4 in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers Choice Awards for Best Roller Coaster in 2024.

Some popular attractions are also celebrating milestone anniversaries this year, including 50 years of the family-friendly Trailblazer coaster, 25 years of the Wild Mouse and Music Express attractions, and 15 years since the “Seaquel” expansion at The Boardwalk added the wave pool, lazy river and cabanas.

2024 also marks the 50th anniversary of the Hershey Characters at Hersheypark. To celebrate this milestone, a new Character show will run daily from June 22 through August 18, making it the first summer entertainment offering in Chevrolet Music Box Theatre since 2019. 

Other entertainment offerings included with a ticket include daily Hershey Character meet and greets and Our Friends From The Sea shows. Details are listed in the Hersheypark app. 

Guests often come for the rides but stay for the treats at Hersheypark! This summer, the Hersheypark culinary team has whipped up some delectable savory offerings - from Nashville Hot Chicken Garlic Knots and Flatbread at Dispatch pizzeria to a rotating burger of the month at East Coast Burger Works location and three coaster dogs at the Berks stand. Anyone who didn't visit during Spring Weekends has to swing by Simply Chocolate to try one of the four new King Size Shake flavors for a sweet treat. 

In Hershey's Chocolatetown, The Chocolatier Restaurant, Bar + Patio is open daily this summer (hours vary) for guests with or without a Hersheypark ticket to enjoy lunch or dinner. New seasonal favorites include a Sticky Rib "Basket," Peach and Prosciutto Flatbread, Strawberry Milkshake and Mini Martini Flight. Reservations are strongly encouraged. Milton's Ice Cream Parlor and The Sweeterie Confectionery Kitchen are also open daily for 100% local dairy house-made ice cream, new sandwiches and decadent chocolate desserts.

The Boardwalk Water Park

Speaking of The Boardwalk, did you know Hersheypark is home to an 11-acre water park with one million gallons of water? It is open daily from May 25 through Sept. 2, 2024, for Hersheypark guests looking to cool off on a hot summer day.

The water park features 16 water attractions, including a lazy river, wave pool, water slides and splash areas of varying depths. One of the most popular water attractions is East Coast Waterworks, modeled after the iconic boardwalks along the East Coast and offering more than 600 interactive water features alone. The biggest splash comes from a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket. If that is not enough thrill, water park visitors can race on Whitecap Racer mat racing slide, one of the longest in the world, and rocket through hills, tunnels and turns on Breakers Edge HydroMAGNETIC water coaster.

ZooAmerica

Park-goers can take a break from the thrills by visiting ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park to see dozens of animals native to North America, from black bears to river otters and Canada lynx. ZooAmerica is included in the one-price admission to Hersheypark only when accessed through the Hersheypark bridge during posted Park hours. 

Guests interested in visiting ZooAmerica before the Park opens must purchase separate Zoo tickets. Regular admission for guests ages 9-61 is $16.50 plus taxes and fees. Admission for juniors ages 3-8 and seniors ages 62+ is $14.50 plus taxes and fees. Children 2 and under are free. ZooAmerica Pass Holders can enjoy unlimited year-round visits to the Zoo, and 2024 Hersheypark Season Pass Holders get into the Zoo for free, too.

Visit Hersheypark All Summer Long

Great ticket offers are available on Hersheypark.com, but with so much Hersheypark Happy to be had, why not visit all summer long?

The all-new Summer Fun Card, available online for $114 plus taxes and fees, allows guests to enjoy unlimited visits to Hersheypark through Sept. 8. A limited number are available, so guests are encouraged to buy now. 

It is also the final chance to save on 2024 Season Passes for unlimited visits all year. Season Passes are on sale with a four-month payment plan option through May 27.

Longest Summer Concert Series to Date Underway

The historic Hersheypark Stadium marked its 85th anniversary this month with the longest summer concert series to date. 

Built in 1939, Hersheypark Stadium will host a record-breaking 14 concerts this summer. There is something for every music lover, from Pink, Justin Timberlake and Green Day to Foo Fighters, Stevie Nicks and Creed. Dearden was an underprivileged boy who attended Hershey Industrial School (now Milton Hershey School) and the only graduate to become CEO of Hershey Foods Corporation (now The Hershey Company). Most notably, his leadership led the chocolate company to start using mass media advertising in the late 1960s, well after its competitors. The new exhibit, which opened to the public on May 3, 2024, features a variety of vintage television commercials.

Following Milton Hershey's death, the company’s conservative business model relied primarily on its reputation for quality. By the 1960s, that model was no longer successful. As a result, the company’s dominance in chocolate and market share declined. Dearden championed securing top talent from external sources such as Mars and Scott Paper. He also inaugurated a strategic planning process that built a new marketing department and restructured the sales department. Other successes included new product development and company acquisitions.

“Guests can learn about Bill Dearden, his charismatic leadership style and his commitment to fulfilling Mr. Hershey’s legacy,” said Valerie Seiber, senior manager of historical collections and exhibitions at The Hershey Story Museum.

Visitors can see a collection of Dearden’s personal items as well as several iconic commercials—advertising campaigns that helped Hershey reclaim the number one confectionery chocolate spot, which it still holds today.

 “The 1970s and 80s featured much-loved jingles and slogans such as ‘Hershey’s—the great American chocolate bar,’ and ‘Two great tastes that taste great together,’” added Seiber.

The new exhibit will also feature the story of how Reese’s Pieces became the first Hershey’s product to be used in a major motion picture, “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.” Guests can see nostalgic product packaging and the development of new products like Rally and Frostin’. Younger guests can enjoy several interactive activities, including a scavenger hunt and a slogan scramble.

MHS President Pete Gurt and members of the HE&R leadership team greeted the students with cheers as they entered the gallery space. The students shared the inspiration for their pieces and their passion for creating art. A few students noted they wish to be teachers and include art in their curriculum.  Many of the students' teachers joined the celebration, and their pride was obvious. HE&R thanks the MHS students and staff members for helping us beautify our corporate offices. The tremendous work of these talented students inspires us daily, and we look forward to showcasing more artwork in the future. 

However, when we say MHS community, we are not just talking about MHS students, staff, and alumni. We are referring to all of us who are working to further Mr. Hershey’s legacy. We are a larger family, united in the vision of our shared founder and inspired to carry forward his biggest dream through MHS: nurturing and educating children in social and financial need to lead fulfilling and productive lives.

These countless individuals, businesses, university partners, and friends help MHS students and alumni be their greatest selves by providing resources, opening doors, and sharing unique opportunities. Through their support, our shared mission extends from Hershey, PA, across the globe.

As such, Milton Hershey School’s Founders Day truly is a celebration for all of us.

When most people think of our town, they envision the streetlamps shaped like Hershey’s Kisses, Hersheypark roller coasters that adorn the skyline, and the chocolate factory. What many people do not realize is the town’s amazing history centered around one couple’s vision for a thriving community.

Today, that model town strives to be exactly what the founders intended. MHS continues to partner with many local organizations—including Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R), which owns and operates Hersheypark, The Hershey Hotel, Hershey Country Club, Hershey Lodge, and more.

Founded in 1927 by our mutual founder, Milton S. Hershey, the core purpose of HE&R is not just to bring smiles to families of all ages but to provide value to MHS in its mission. Today, this is happening in many ways, including: providing students with career-focused education and employment opportunities, offering students intentional life and social skills development and mentoring, and supporting students’ growth of project-based problem-solving skills. On the business end of the relationship, our two companies are collaborating on professional development opportunities for our leaders and managers and activating meaningful marketing strategies across HE&R’s properties to support MHS student recruitment and awareness about the school.      

This list only scratches the surface. MHS students and staff benefit from the diverse and far-reaching support of HE&R. This Founders Day, I am grateful for all that this partnership is doing to impact lives and carry the Hersheys’ mission forward.

More importantly, we want our guests to recognize the tremendous opportunities for students at MHS. As the school continues to grow, MHS is looking to recruit eligible students interested in a top-tier education with one-of-a-kind opportunities. It is our privilege to help spread that message. On this Founders Day, we are proud to collaborate with MHS in unveiling new signage throughout Hersheypark that shares this message. In the new year, we plan to expand these efforts in new and different ways across our other entertainment venues, Resorts, and restaurants.

This important initiative showcases the spirit of community that exists in this sweet town named after a humble, visionary man and his chocolate bar. I am grateful to honor Mr. and Mrs. Hershey and commemorate MHS Founders Day through our extensive partnership with MHS for such deserving children.

New for 2022 at Hersheypark

New for summer 2022, the Hersheypark skyline is brighter with the addition of Jolly Rancher Remix reimagined boomerang roller coaster and Mix'd Flavored By Jolly Rancher all-new family ride. The rides feature a distinctive color palette of bright green, pink, purple, blue and red, representing the Jolly Rancher candy flavors. The theming continues onto the gears of Mix’d and into the Jolly Rancher Remix coaster station with Jolly Rancher lights and a Jolly Rancher DJ booth. Riders will then be surprised by changing lights and music that indicate the flavor ride they are about to enjoy.

One of 15 coasters at Hersheypark, Jolly Rancher Remix takes guests on a flavor ride by sending them and their senses forward and back on the same flavorful track. Riders of Hershey’s height category (48”) and above will blast through the flavor tunnel, invert six times in 90 seconds and jam to sweet tunes. Each ride is different with five randomized flavor rides like Watermelon or Green Apple, complete with different music, lights and scents for an only-in-Hershey sensory experience. 

Mix'd Flavored By Jolly Rancher is located just steps away from Jolly Rancher Remix in the heart of Hersheypark near Storm Runner coaster. Riders of Reese’s height category (42”) and above sit in one of the four arms and spin 360 degrees. The ride then shifts into gear and mixes in lifts, drops and never-before-seen views while dodging the other riders. 

This summer, guests can enjoy new Jolly Rancher flavored items across Hersheypark. Starting Memorial Day weekend inside Hershey’s Chocolatetown region, The Chocolatier Restaurant, Bar + Patio adds a Jolly Rancher Watermelon Cocktail, Twizzlers Frozen Daiquiri and Jolly Rancher Sorbet Sundae to the Fun to Table menu. Also, Milton’s Ice Cream Parlor features a sundae with Jolly Rancher Watermelon and Jolly Rancher Blue Raspberry Sorbets. Debuting in June, The Frozen Spoon food truck will offer Jolly Rancher Grape Sorbet, Jolly Rancher Green Apple Sorbet, Jolly Rancher Cherry Sorbet and Jolly Rancher Blue Raspberry Sorbet.

Three Parks In One

Summer tickets include three parks in one with thrilling coasters and family rides, a water park and a zoo. 

Hersheypark offers a wide range of family-friendly rides like the Ferris Wheel, which turns 25 this year, more than 20 kiddie rides interspersed throughout the Park, and 15 coasters and other thrill attractions. 

The Boardwalk At Hersheypark water park is open from May 28 through Sept. 5, 2022, and celebrates its 15th anniversary this summer. Located inside Hersheypark, it is the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day with 16 water attractions and one million gallons of water, including a lazy river, wave pool, water slides and splash areas of varying depths. 

The Boardwalk is also home to East Coast Waterworks attraction, modeled after the iconic boardwalks along the East Coast and offering more than 600 interactive water features alone. The biggest splash comes from a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket for those looking to get drenched on a hot summer day. 

Thrill-seekers can race on Whitecap Racer mat racing slide, one of the longest in the world, and rocket through hills, tunnels and turns on Breakers Edge HydroMAGNETIC water coaster. Both high-thrill water attractions were added to The Boardwalk in 2018, as the area has continued to expand since its addition in 2007.

Park-goers can take a break from the thrills by visiting ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park to see dozens of animals native to North America, from black bears to river otters and Canada lynx. The 11-acre zoo recently welcomed new arrivals, including a male American elk, a diamondback terrapin and a western diamondback rattlesnake. ZooAmerica is included with a Hersheypark ticket only by accessing the zoo through the Hersheypark bridge during public operating hours. Regular admission to ZooAmerica is $13. Juniors ages 3-8 and seniors ages 62+ are $11. Children 2 and under are free.

Guests can also snap a selfie with a Hershey Character, enjoy strolling entertainment and see seals and sea lions during Our Friends From The Sea performances in the 50-year-old Aquatheatre at Hersheypark. The Hersheypark app lists Character appearances and showtimes.

Hershey Gardens is open daily at 9 a.m. with various summer events. Young visitors can enjoy kids’ crafts and entertainment from puppets to storytelling included in admission during Marvelous Mondays on July 11, 18 and 25, and Aug. 1 and 8, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

The Hershey Story Museum on Chocolate Avenue is also open daily at 9 a.m. for guests to explore the history of Hershey in an educational and immersive environment. Guests can participate in a 45-minute chocolate-making class at The Chocolate Lab for an additional cost. Tickets are sold in person only on the day of the class on a first-come, first-served basis. Children are required to be five or older to enter the lab.  

As Managing Director of Retail and Games, Liz leads two vital departments across our organization. She received two nominations from her colleagues, Heather Storm and Alexandria Carl. Here are a few excerpts from those nominations:

When announcing that Liz earned this distinction, John Lawn took the time to acknowledge the 29 team members who celebrated 28 of their peers saying, "Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate a team member for the 2021 Legacy of Excellence award. It was incredibly inspiring to read the tremendous acts of commitment and service exhibited across our organization during such a challenging time in our company’s history, and I am so thankful that this process brings to light and recognizes the outstanding efforts of our team members"

9 Iron Chip

Hello golfers: Thinking you can only chip with your lofted wedges? Guess again...an 8 or 9 iron can be a useful tool around the green if you know how to set it up correctly. These clubs have less loft and you can adjust the golf club face open or closed to change trajectories. Try this simple shot with your 9 iron for any chip shots from the fairway or light rough. Set the ball behind center and grip down an inch. The golf club face should be set barely open with a slight shaft lean toward the flag. As you swing at the ball, try to swish the grass with the sole instead of striking the ground. This simple approach will create low, spinning chips that end up closer to the hole more often.

Edward L. Wright Joins Company 

(HERSHEY, PA, March 24, 2021) -- Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company (HE&R) is pleased to announce the appointment of Edward L. Wright as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Wright will succeed David P. Lavery who retired last December after 30 years of service to the company. 

"We are excited to have Ed join HE&R. He complements the exceptional strength of our existing finance team and our legacy-oriented culture,” said John Lawn, President, and Chief Executive Officer, HE&R. “Ed is a multifaceted finance leader experienced at growing businesses organically and through acquisitions. He has an established record of implementing strategic plans that achieve profitable financial and operating returns. Ed also has experience in developing creative solutions for complex business and accounting issues and has established himself as a developer and mentor of high-performing teams,” commented Lawn.

Wright has a wide breadth of finance and operations experiences in telecommunications, entertainment, retail, and consulting. For the past nine years, Wright has been a Chief Financial Officer for multiple divisions within Comcast Corporation, which is the second-largest broadcasting and cable television company in the world. Comcast is also the parent company of the international media company NBCUniversal since its acquisition in 2011 and SKY, which was acquired in 2018. In his role as Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, Operations & Technical Services (O&TS) for Comcast Corporation/NBCUniversal, Wright was responsible for the overall financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, including over $1.3 billion of operating expenses. Ed was also responsible for over $2.4 billion in project spending that supported the global portfolio of broadcast, cable, and film businesses, television production operations, theme parks, and Universal Studios operations, global technical operations, information technology, digital products, and advanced technologies, and corporate service functions. Most recently, Wright was Chief Financial Officer of Comcast Xfinity Home, where he was responsible for all facets of Finance and oversight of Marketing/Sales, Product Development, Operations, and Strategy.

Wright is a C.P.A., and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from King’s College, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Today is International Women’s Day (IWD), a time to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women across the globe. Since 1911, IWD has been celebrated in numerous countries, but it was not formally recognized by the United Nations until 1977. Although the day will be commemorated differently from country to country, the message is the same. In celebration of IWD, we want to honor some of the female trailblazers in sports. 

Although the first recorded Olympic Games were held in 776 B.C., the first modern-day Olympics took place in 1896. Four years later, the Olympic Committee committed to equality and welcomed women who made up just over 2% of competing athletes. Today, that number is nearly 50%. The first American female Olympic gold medalist was golfer Margaret Ives Abbott at the 1900 Paris Games. Margaret helped blaze a trail for future Olympians including gymnasts Nadia Comaneci, Mary Lou Retton, and Simone Biles, skier Lindsey Vonn, swimmers Dara Torres, Amy Van Dyken, and Katie Ledecky, and the beach volleyball duo of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings. 

For decades, women have excelled in two team sports - ice hockey and soccer. Since their debut at the 1998 Winter Games, the U.S. Women’s Ice Hockey team has medaled in every Olympic appearance including earning two gold medals. The U.S. Women’s Soccer team has dominated the field since their 1999 World Cup win. With four World Cup titles and four Olympic gold medals since 1999, it’s no wonder stars like Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, and Megan Rapino are considered some of the best all-time athletes. 

Billie Jean King’s name tops the list of female trailblazers. She made history by breaking barriers. Named one of the “100 Most Important Americans of the 20th Century” by LIFE magazine, Billie Jean King fought for women to have equal billing, respect, and pay in tennis. Her efforts enabled women like Chris Evert and Serena Williams to become some of the most decorated athletes in the sport. 

More and more, women are also making their influence and expertise felt in the front office as leaders and coaches in sports. In 2019, the Philadelphia Eagles made headlines with its appointment of five female leaders - the largest representation of any NFL team and more than half of the team’s top brass. Becky Hammon was the first female coach in the NBA, currently serving as assistant coach of the San Antonio Spurs. The 2021 Super Bowl included two female coaches, Lori Locust and Maral Javadifar of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and NFL official Sarah Thomas, all making history. 

The history books are replete with women who have excelled in sports, but there are many records to be broken and positions to be held.

Over the last two years, MHS students and their HE&R mentors have worked on projects with a focus on our newest region of Hersheypark, Hershey's Chocolatetown. Some of the HPP MHS students joined us for the Hershey's Chocolatetown groundbreaking event! This year, three new dining experiences will open at Hershey's Chocolatetown and if you look closely, you'll see work completed by the HPP students including the design of the kid's menu at The Chocolatier as well as making a special table, and refurbishing unique elements of the restaurant. We commend MHS for its innovative CTE programming and are proud to be part of it.

Following a three-month closure, The Hershey Story Museum reopened to the public at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 19! Visitors are encouraged to pre-purchase a timed ticket to secure their spot as they take a step back in time to learn about the life of our founder, Milton S. Hershey. The Chocolate Tastings experience opened on June 19. The Chocolate Lab will resume holding classes on Friday, July 3. Lab tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis at the admissions desk. Please be advised that new safety protocols are now in place. The Pantry Café is now open daily from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. 

We know you've missed the delicacies from Hershey’s Chocolate World and just in time for summer, is welcoming visitors to gather and create memories. Hershey’s Chocolate Tour and Create Your Own Candy Bar attractions are open, along with shopping and food, desserts, and your favorite Hershey's candy. To help manage capacity, Hershey’s Chocolate World is reducing the number of visitors who can be in the building at any one time. Guests are asked to secure a free timed entry pass to enjoy all that Hershey’s Chocolate World has to offer. Hours of operations vary. ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park opened to the public on June 22 with exclusive days for Zoo Annual Pass holders on June 19, and Zoo Annual Pass holders and Hersheypark Season Pass holders on June 20 and 21. 

Hersheypark plans to welcome guests back on July 3 with exclusive days for Season Pass holders on July 1 and 2. As part of the summer opening weekend, Hersheypark will debut Candymonium, the tallest, fastest, longest, and sweetest coaster at the Park. It spans seven acres at the new entrance of Hershey’s Chocolatetown, a 23-acre development featuring an entirely reimaged arrival experience honoring the legacy of our Milton S. Hershey.
