Spring 2022 Golf at Hershey Country Club

East, West and Spring Creek Golf Courses Now Open

Longer days, birds chirping and warmer weather mark the start of golf season in Hershey, PA! Hershey Country Club (HCC) boasts two award-winning courses and manages Spring Creek Golf Course.

The East and West courses at HCC are open for use to members, guests of members, and guests of the Official Resorts of Hersheypark. Spring Creek Golf Course is open to the public. Over the winter and early spring months, the HCC team has been hard at work. Between turf projects and the hiring of a new head golf professional, it will be a great golf season at HCC!

East Course

The East Course captures the beauty of Central Pennsylvania’s countryside at each and every hole. As our longest and most challenging course, the East Course remains a fan favorite for golfers of the highest skill level. Players will enjoy elevated greens, three sparkling lakes, and more than 100 bunkers through which to maneuver. The 18-hole, par 71 East Course features 7,061 yards of rolling fairways, daunting greens, bunkers and natural hazards with holes ranging between par 3, 4, and 5.

Iconic Hole - #18
The 18th hole on the East Course is a Member and Pro favorite at HCC. At the very end of playing all 18, the East Course leads you right back to the main Clubhouse for a fantastic view. On this last hole you will have a great outlook of the pond with the entire Clubhouse behind it. The scenery is captivating and makes for a great photo opp!

Pro Tip
Since this course has a lot of green elevation, getting your approach shot to go directly onto the green is key. Using extra club will always help you on the East Course!

West Course

Designed by Maurice McCarthy in 1930, the West Course is a traditional, yet ever-enjoyable course. Enjoy sweet, bird’s-eye views of the town of Hershey as you play your way through a leisurely day of golf. The West Course requires all 14 clubs, making it great practice for golfers of all skill levels! This 18-hole, par 73 West Course features 6,860 yards of tree-lined fairways, lush greens and challenging hazards with holes ranging between par 3, 4, and 5.

Iconic Hole - #5
Hole #5 on the West Course is the most photographed hole in Hershey. Not only is it elevated above other holes, but its putting green lies on the property of the famous High Point Mansion. The Mansion holds history as Milton and Catherine Hershey’s home, as well as HCC’s first Clubhouse when it opened in 1930.

Pro Tip
The West Course is the most played course in Hershey, but it is one of the more difficult. The obvious tip for this course is to keep the ball on the fairway. The rough on this course is high, thick and tough to get out of because of the vast amount of trees. On your approach shot, aim for the fairway!

Spring Creek Golf Course - Celebrating 90 Years!

Designed in 1932 as the first course in the United States open to players age 17 and younger, Spring Creek Golf Course remains beginner-friendly and is open to the public. This nine-hole course features lush greens, holes lined with mature trees and the natural Spring Creek gently winding throughout.

Spring Creek Golf Course is designed to challenge the seasoned golfer and welcome those just learning the game. The course provides a memorable experience with immaculate greens, excellent customer service, and an enjoyable round in a fraction of the time.

The course also accommodates FootGolf, which combines the best of soccer and golf!

Pro Tip
Hole #1 is a par 4 and the longest hole on the course. With Chocolate Avenue bordering the entire left side, a strong tee shot followed by a precise second into the deep green is required. Judging the four or five club differences from front pin placements to hole locations at the back of the green is a challenge.

Turf Maintenance Projects

The HCC Turf team was busy over the winter, edging all the bunkers throughout the courses. Though a long and labor-intensive project, this will have a positive impact on the bunker conditions this season. Most important, the team is keeping an eye on the health of the turf on all courses as the drastic change in temperatures and moisture from late winter into early spring can cause stress on the plant.
