Keeping Cool in the Dog Days of Summer

National Ice Cream Month is ending and we are moving into the hottest month of the summer and most people I know are looking for ways to keep cool and beat the heat.

When I think of keeping cool, two words come to mind: ice cream. Fortunately I know just where to go to enjoy a wide assortment of frozen delights: Hersheypark.

I must admit that I am a Fro Yo fan. My thinking is that it is healthy and of course I choose fruit as my topping of choice. An occasional drizzle of hot fudge does occasionally make its way on top of the fruit- it IS Hershey after all.

I also enjoy indulging in a King Sized Shake at the Park. There are 24 glorious ounces of ice cream and milk topped with even more sweet delights. My personal favorite is the Reese’s shake. I think if you try one, you will quickly understand why this comes in as my #1 favorite.

My third choice is a cone of “Twist” soft serve ice cream- I always feel that this choice is a “two for one.” I can never decide: chocolate or vanilla so I go for the “both” option.

So it is obvious that I love ice cream as a way to keep cool in the summer. But, at Hersheypark I can find so many other ways to beat the heat.

The Boardwalk At Hersheypark offers me a choice of 14 unique water rides. The choices range from mild to wild and my favorite water ride is the Lazy River. I have been fortunate to float along with my two grandsons, ages 7 and 8, and it is hands down my favorite Hersheypark water experience.

In addition to the rides and ice cream, there are so many other “cool” choices at the Park: soda, ice cream sandwiches, water ice, and an assortment of frozen drinks. It seems as if the possibilities are endless.

How about you? What is your favorite “cool” choice at Hersheypark?
