Hersheypark Transforms into a Winter Wonderland for Christmas

It’s just about that time of year! The time when you dust off all the Christmas decorations and start untangling all those strings of lights.

At Hersheypark the work begins during Hersheypark In The Dark by hanging lights in trees and stringing them in bushes where they will not be seen by guests. The day after the Halloween event ends (November 5), it’s all elves on deck as large light displays, wreaths and garland are brought in and added to the decorations.

At Hersheypark Christmas Candylane, more than 4 million sparkling lights create the magic of the Christmas season. The Hersheypark Maintenance Team not only oversees the lighting and electrical needs. They also build Santa's Stables, the enclosure for the nine live reindeer who make their home at Hersheypark Christmas Candlane. In addition, the Maintenance Team builds a Candy Cottage that is Santa's residence at Christmas Candylane.

The Hershey Nursery staff is responsible for trimming the array of evergreen trees that ardorn the paths in the park.

To assist the Park teams, employees from all over Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, the parent company of Hersheypark, volunteer their time to help with hanging lights and decorations.

NOEL, a breathtaking light show synchronized to classic holiday music, is created from more than 250,000 dancing lights and requires two crews of two men working for many days just to install the lights in the many trees and bushes that surround Spring Creek, which runs through Hersheypark.

An entire team comes together to create this enchanting winter wonderland for guests and for their families and friends and they all agree it is a labor of love.

Let’s hope Santa is watching!
