Hershey Gardens Announces Summer Art Exhibits, Music and More

New This Year – Art Exhibit, Rose Day and Music in the Gardens

Summer activities are in full swing at Hershey Gardens. In addition to Marvelous Mondays making a return, new offerings include art exhibits, live music, Rose Day and children’s shows.

Following is a complete listing of summer events and activities at Hershey Gardens:

Guided Nature Walks
Saturday, July 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31; Aug. 7, 14, 21 and 28, 2021
10 – 11 a.m.
Dr. Ray (Barbehenn), a biologist with an expertise in plant ecology, leads a one-hour tour of the Gardens, providing guests with insight and information on various plants. Included in admission; subject to cancellation without prior notice.

Marvelous Mondays in The Children’s Garden
Monday, July 12, 19 and 26; Aug. 2 and 9, 2021
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Kids can explore The Children’s Garden while discovering nature, creating crafts and enjoying entertainment. Each week brings a new program. Included in admission. 
July 12 – Animals with ZooAmerica
July 19 – Trees and flowers with Butterfly Rick
July 26 – Birds with the Audubon Society; puppet shows
Aug. 2 – Science and art with VanGo! Museum on Wheels
Aug. 9 – Garden creatures; children's book author Kevin McCloskey

Children’s Play – “Neverland”
Friday, July 23, 2021
12 – 1 p.m.
Take a trip to "Neverland," an original adaptation presented by students of Hershey Area Playhouse's Summer Theater Camp. This beloved story of eternal youth will be filled with swashbuckling pirates and rambunctious lost children. "Neverland" will be presented in The Children's Garden Amphitheater. Included in admission.

Hershey Area Art Association Exhibit and Sale
July 23 – 25, 2021
9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
"Summer in the Gardens"
Works of art by members of the Hershey Area Art Association will be on exhibit and for sale in the Milton & Catherine Hershey Conservatory. Included in admission.

NEW! JJ Roach Art Exhibit and Sale
July 31 and Aug. 1, 2021
10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Joseph James Roach, a 17-year-old self-taught artist, will be displaying his abstract paintings and drawings in the Garden Cottage. Roach was diagnosed with autism and ADHD, and at the age of 13 years discovered that he could channel his emotions through art. Included in admission. 

NEW! Music in the Gardens
Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021
6 – 8 p.m.
An evening of live music will be provided by the Anthony Haubert Trio, featuring local jazz saxophonist, clarinetist and flutist Tom Strohman, Philadelphia-based bassist Ryan Kuhns and jazz pianist Anthony Haubert. Guests can walk through the Gardens or bring their own beverage, blanket and lawn chairs, and snacks. Included in admission. 

NEW! Rose Day
Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Guests will learn about rose care and flower arranging, and they will tour the Historic Rose Garden. Children's activities include a Rosebud Tour, a craft and a scavenger hunt. Sarah's Creamery truck will be onsite from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Included in admission.

NEW! “The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show”
Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021
1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Eric Carle’s critically-acclaimed show features a menagerie of large-scale puppets. Every show also features two other Eric Carle short stories. Performed by Gretna Theatre; included in admission.

Summer hours at Hershey Gardens are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Last entry into the Butterfly Atrium is 5:45 p.m. For ticketing information, please visit HersheyGardens.org
