Hershey Bears Get Set to Defend Calder Cup in 86th Season

Opening Night is Saturday, Oct. 14 vs. Belleville; First Hersheypark Pass Night is Sunday, Oct. 15 vs. Cleveland

An icy chill will descend upon The Sweetest Place On Earth this weekend as the Hershey Bears drop the puck on their 86th season of competition in the American Hockey League. The Bears will look to defend their title after claiming their 12th Calder Cup in franchise history – the most of any team in the AHL – last season with a thrilling seven-game series over the Coachella Valley Firebirds!

Back with the Bears for this season are fan favorites Mike Vecchione, Hunter Shepard, Aaron Ness, Mike Sgarbossa and more, as Todd Nelson and his coaching staff look to become the first AHL club to go back-to-back since the Bears repeated as champions in 2009 and 2010.

Hershey will raise its 12th Calder Cup banner to the rafters of GIANT Center during a pregame ceremony on Opening Night, on Saturday, Oct. 14 against the Belleville Senators. All fans in attendance can score their own Calder Cup Champions Mini Banner, courtesy of Members 1st Federal Credit Union. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the popular Home Opener Red Carpet Event, which begins at 3 p.m. BUY TICKETS NOW

The Bears will be starting the season in style and celebrating the club’s historic 2023 Calder Cup Championship by wearing a specialty jersey for a pair of games during the opening weekend of the 2023-24 season.

The hard-hitting action continues on Sunday, Oct. 15, when the Bears host the Cleveland Monsters at 5 p.m. for the first of three Hersheypark Pass Nights this season. All fans in attendance will receive a 2024 Hersheypark ticket, valid for one-day admission through June 30, 2024! BUY TICKETS NOW
