HE&R Employee Donates National Christmas Tree

Did you know that the national Christmas tree was donated by an HE&R employee?

Lin Ly, a stewarding team member at The Hotel Hershey, is making Christmas a little bit sweeter for our country this year with his donation of the new national Christmas tree!

Lin, who has worked at the Hotel for 14 years, said he was so happy when the National Park Service (NPS) approached him two months ago about the 30-foot Colorado blue spruce that stood in the front yard of his Palmyra home. The NPS told him they had spent a lot of time searching for the perfect tree to plant in the nation’s capital this holiday season, as the old national Christmas tree needed to be replaced. And Lin was so glad to hear his tree fit the bill. He said he was honored to donate his tree so it could provide joy to more than just his family.

“It’s standing for Christmas for everybody in the United States. It’s for everybody.”

Lin’s tree is now on display to the public at President’s Park outside the White House in Washington D.C. and is free to visit. The tree was lit during a National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Dec. 5, and will remain lit daily starting at about 4:30 p.m. through the holiday season.
