The recent devastating events have many feeling anger, confusion, sadness, and despair. Like the rest of the country, we mourn the loss of George Floyd and all members of the black community whose lives were cut short because of ignorance, intolerance, and the senseless hatred based solely on the color of their skin. This terrible act demonstrates how important listening, empathy, and action are at this time in our history. 

Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company is committed to diversity and establishing and maintaining an environment where all people feel valued and included. The foundation of our company’s commitment is our core values - the central pillar of which is "Respectful of Others," which we define as treating all people with dignity while respecting their differences and ideas. 

Over the past few days we have continued to discuss this tragic event and the undercurrent of hate that unfortunately still exists within our country. George Floyd’s death demands an answer to the question of what all of us are prepared to do to eliminate the scourge of racism from our national landscape.

We pledge to continue our focus on inclusion and diversity through education, conversation, and advocacy, and to further support organizations that are engaged in achieving racial equality. This is not a time for equivocation or indecision. We stand for inclusion, diversity, and against racism. We stand with the black community to promote racial equality. 

We will continue to listen, learn, and act with care, compassion, purpose, and resolve to work toward the elimination of racism and inequality in our society. And our efforts will not stop until that objective is achieved.
