May marks Mental Health Awareness Month, and this year’s theme is “Where to Start: Mental Health in a Changing World.” This theme reminds us that ‘while society is getting more comfortable discussing mental health, it can still be hard to know where to start when it comes to taking care of your own well-being.’

Hershey Entertainment & Resorts encourages open, honest conversations among your teams, families, and friends to help clarify the misunderstandings surrounding this topic.

Are you unsure where to start? Here are some recommendations and resources:

  • Familiarize yourself with the signs and symptoms of mental illness in adults, adolescents, and young children.
  • Recognize that you are not alone
    • 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness
    • 1 in 20 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness
    • 17% of youth aged 6-17 years experience a mental health disorder
  • Destigmatize conversations about mental health struggles and have the courage to ask yourself and others, “Are you okay?”

National and State Resources:

We can make a difference in breaking mental health stigma. Let’s get started together.
