HE&R Employee Spotlight Feature

In the words of our founder, Milton S. Hershey, “Business is a matter of human service.” This quote is one that Angela Meyers lives by as a strategic leader for Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R). Recently promoted to Director of Talent Acquisition, Angela is passionate about our world-class destination and organization while attracting team members to experience everything The Sweetest Place On Earth has to offer. Angela has worked at HE&R for over 25 years in a variety of roles across the company. 

I had the pleasure of interviewing Angela about her career path, I learned how hard work and dedication led her to find much happiness and success with HE&R. 

Q: Where did you attend school, and how did you find yourself at HE&R? 

                     A: I attended Penn State University immediately following high school but took many detours to finally land with a B.S. in Business Administration from Elizabethtown College, Class of 2020.

Q: Tell us about your journey with HE&R. What roles have you had, etc.?

                    A: I started with HE&R in the summer of 1996 as a seasonal Reservations Agent where I fell in love with assisting guests with their travel plans to visit Hershey. I worked for three summers in this role and then joined the team full-time in 1999. From that point on, I worked my way through  different positions within the Reservations Department finally landing the role of Director in 2007. In 2018, I jumped into Revenue Management as a member of the Resort Sales, Revenue Management, & Reservations Team. 

Q: Walk us through your role, as the Director of Talent Acquisition, what are your responsibilities? 

                   A: I am responsible for assisting the recruitment team with strategies to find talent for HE&R.  I partner with the Operations, Marketing, Communications, and Human Resources teams to find the best talent to join our team! 

Q: What is the most gratifying, rewarding part of working at HE&R? 

                  A: Our organization’s Core Purpose - providing value to Milton Hershey School (MHS). I love that the work I do directly makes an impact on the students who are fortunate enough to attend MHS. I am driving to find staffing solutions to ensure that our operations can fully operate and our guests have a memorable experience because, at the end of the day, this translates into revenue that ultimately supports the School. In my new role, I am excited to help students find roles within HE&R to help them on their professional journey.

Q: Are you active in any groups or HE&R volunteer activities? 

                   A: I am on the  MHS-HE&R Partnership Committee, an Employee Resource Group dedicated to identiyfing engagement opportunities between the two organizations, MHS Project Fellowship, HSMAI DC Chapter - education committee member, and I serve on the JDRF Central PA Board and co-lead the Community Engagement/Outreach efforts for the chapter.
