HE&R Celebrates Women's History Month 2024

Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

This email was shared with our Hershey Entertainment & Resorts team members to celebrate Women's History Month.

March is Women’s History Month, and this year’s theme is “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.” Meant to recognize the trailblazers who fight to drive change and eliminate bias and discrimination against females; this theme and that of International Women’s Day on March 8, “Inspire Inclusion,” demonstrates the continued plight of women across the globe.

Some of those noteworthy trailblazers include Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucretia Mott and Susan B. Anthony, who fought for women’s right to vote. They are credited with launching the suffrage movement, ensuring the 19th Amendment was passed. Malala Yousafzai was 15 years old when she was shot for advocating for girls’ rights to education. Malala not only survived but thrived earning the Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 2014. Her fight for universal education continues today with Malala’s Fund. A fierce advocate for genocide and sexual violence against women, Nadia Murad was kidnapped by ISIS in 2014 for her religious and cultural beliefs. Following her escape after a three-month captivity, Nadia became a voice for voiceless women in wartorn countries and was also recognized with a Nobel Prize.

At Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, we are proud that 45% of our company’s officers are women, females make up nearly 44% of our Managers Group and more than half of our team members are women.

What can you do to help advocate for and reduce discrimination against women?

We hope we can change the conversation by raising awareness of Women’s History Month. We encourage you to discuss the issues women continue to face with your friends, family and colleagues.

Thank you.
