HE&R Celebrates PRIDE Month 2023

Today marks the start of Pride Month. Throughout June, we are encouraged to raise awareness of issues and challenges facing the LGBTQ+ community while celebrating all of the beautiful identities of our LGBTQ+ community

HISTORY OF PRIDE

According to USAToday.com, “Pride Month commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York and celebrates the LGBTQ community and the fight for equal rights. The Stonewall Uprising began on June 28, 1969, when police raided the Stonewall Inn, a prominent gay bar in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. The subsequent protests over the next six days are credited with a shift in LGBTQ activism in the U.S.”  

The universal sign of PRIDE, the rainbow flag, was introduced in the 1970s to celebrate the diversity of the LGBTQ+ community. The most common version has six stripes signifying

One year ago, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts launched its sixth Employee Resource Group, HUE - HE&R Unity & Equality, a group committed to building a community within Hershey Entertainment & Resorts by connecting LGBTQ+ team members and allies through education, advocacy, and professional development.
