HE&R Announces New Board Members

Two New Board Members Join Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company 

Barbara Polk and Orlando Ashford Named Directors 

Hershey, PA – January 10, 2020 – Hershey Trust Company, Trustee of the Milton Hershey School Trust, the sole shareholder of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company (HE&R) elected two new members, Barbara Polk and Orlando Ashford, to serve on the HE&R Board on December 31, 2019. With these appointments, the HE&R Board is now comprised of seven directors. 

Barbara Polk, a graduate of Milton Hershey School (MHS), is the chief human resources officer at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. and brings a robust portfolio of experience in recruiting, strategy, training, and development. 

“With the opening of Hershey’s Chocolatetown, Barbara’s knowledge will be vital to the growth of our employee base,” said John Lawn, President, CEO & Chairman of the Board. “We are thrilled to have Barbara join the HE&R Board and look forward to her unique perspective as a graduate of MHS.” 

As president of Holland America Line, a Seattle based cruise line, Orlando Ashford oversees the organization’s revenue management, sales, and marketing, strategy, and hotel operations. 

“Orlando’s unique blend of hospitality and managerial experience will help inform our organization’s strategy as we continue to evolve and grow,” said Lawn. “We welcome him to the HE&R family and are eager to leverage his knowledge on the board.” 

In September 2019, the HE&R Board of Directors elected John Lawn as Chairman and Jeff Jones as Lead Independent Director. Jones has been a member of the board since 2013, and Lawn joined the board in 2017 following his promotion to CEO of HE&R. Additional board members include Jane Cooper, Daniel Smith, and Ann Yerger.
