HE&R Announces Its Legacy of Excellence Winner

On an annual basis, team members of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R) are invited to nominate a colleague for the Legacy of Excellence Award, the highest level of peer-to-peer recognition given within our organization. The honor recognizes a deserving team member whose actions exhibit our Core Values (Selfless Spirit of Service, Team Focused, Devoted to the Legacy, and Respectful of Others) and honors the legacy of our founder, Milton S. Hershey. On Friday, December 17, 2021, Liz Hendrix was awarded the 2021 Legacy of Excellence Award! John Lawn, president & CEO, and Vikki Hultquist, general manager, Hersheypark Entertainment Complex, surprised Liz with the well-deserved, exciting news.

As Managing Director of Retail and Games, Liz leads two vital departments across our organization. She received two nominations from her colleagues, Heather Storm and Alexandria Carl. Here are a few excerpts from those nominations: 

• “....[Liz] had built my confidence as well as teaching me the ways to be a young, respected professional not just on our retail team but within the entire company.” 
• “Her impact on the department is felt everywhere, from the brand new part-time summer clerk to the managers that have been with the team for years. Her empathy for others is one of her great trademarks as a leader…” 
• “Liz never gave up on her employees, she would be the first one there to ensure everything was ready to go and ready for another record day, and she would push team members to take time off as she was afraid they would burn out.”
• “Liz remains humble, open to new ideas, and treats her employees like family.”

When announcing that Liz earned this distinction, John Lawn took the time to acknowledge the 29 team members who celebrated 28 of their peers saying, "Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate a team member for the 2021 Legacy of Excellence award. It was incredibly inspiring to read the tremendous acts of commitment and service exhibited across our organization during such a challenging time in our company’s history, and I am so thankful that this process brings to light and recognizes the outstanding efforts of our team members"
