Fun Things to Do in Hershey During Winter

This post originally appeared on MamaCheaps.com

You might think that Hershey, PA is only a summer destination. In fact, I’ll bet that when you picture Hershey, PA, one of the first activities that pops into your mind is Hersheypark. Hersheypark, of course, being a seasonal amusement park with plentiful summer hours and limited hours in spring and fall. But when the park closes its gates for the winter and the temperature dips to freezing, you will still be able to find many fun things to do in Hershey during winter months! The bonus is that many times the crowds at various attractions is lower in the winter than in the busy summer months. Shorter wait times and fewer people always make me smile a bit more!

So the fam and I put together this list of our very favorite things to do in Hershey, PA – that are open and operating during the winter months! Make sure you check individual attraction websites to see what their various hours are, as some do run on different winter hours than they do in the summer. (And p.s. If you’re planning to spend the night in Hershey – our kids LOVE Hershey’s Water Works at Hershey Lodge. This indoor water park is open year round and is available exclusively to Hershey Lodge guests!)

p.p.s. Don’t forget to have some HOT CHOCOLATE. My favorite hot chocolate in the world is in Hershey – at the hotels, restaurants, Chocolate World… anywhere that serves it with Hershey’s chocolate (which is most places!)! LOL

ZooAmerica: Open year round, check out this 11 acre, walk-thru park zoo that sits right next to Hersheypark. We love visiting all of the animals at ZooAmerica!

Hershey Bears Ice Hockey: Check to see if there is a Bears game in Hershey during your stay! This is a fun indoor option for a rainy afternoon or evening. Watch a fast-paced, fun ice hockey game at a pricetag that is way less than an NHL game. The stadium is an awesome venue to watch a game in and there are plenty of food options as well. (The Bears play at the Giant Center which also happens to hold MANY big name concerts throughout the year. Check the Giant Center concert schedule to see if any of your favorite artists will be playing!)

The Hershey Story Museum: Take a spin through The Hershey Story which is a great museum that teaches visitors all about Milton S. Hershey and how his beloved chocolate company came to be. Enjoy interactive exhibits, make and decorate chocolate in the Chocolate Lab, even sample chocolate from around the world!
