Living busy lives in the suburbs of NY, we are always looking for quick getaways. The cheapest thing to do is not pay for flights and take a road trip to surrounding states like New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Connecticut.

We recently had the pleasure of visiting popular theme park town Hershey, Pennsylvania. Only about three hours from Long Island, it’s a great family vacation or even just the weekend. We have visited Hershey during the summer and during late September. Both have their perks, but I highly recommend visiting Hershey Lodge during the fall for the fireplaces.

Here’s everything you should know about staying at this family-friendly, chocolate-lover heaven.

Hershey Lodge Grounds are Spectacular

When you first pull up into the entrance, you know you are going to a fantastic place. Just like the main roads of the town, each lamp post carries a Hershey flag. The long road to the top showcase the meticulous grounds Hershey Lodge has to offer. Once you make the turn to where the check-in is, you are greeting with a colorful array of flowers, a gorgeous lake, and a beautiful gazebo.

Hershey Lodge lobby is warm and inviting.

The friendly valet staff is the first thing you encounter. Once the doors open, you walk into a cozy world of chairs, couches, and fireplaces. To the right is a large check-in desk. And a bit further down is a large concierge always there to help you.

Hershey Lodge Accommodations are spacious and comfortable.

This amenity is pretty easy. Big comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms are what families need during their vacation.

Hershey Lodge has hidden chocolate kisses everywhere. And I mean EVERYWHERE.

As you drive down the long road of the Hershey entrance, you are greeted with street banners and Hershey Kisses at the stop lights. But these weren’t surprising. What was surprising was the wall Hershey Kiss wallpaper, the Hershey Kiss pattern on the linens, and the biggest surprise of all? The secret Hershey Kiss buried inside the chocolate martini I ordered at dinner. Talk about an Instagrammable moment! Oh, and every time you get a check, it comes with you guessed it, Hershey Kisses.
