So what could possibly be bigger than chocolate?

Giving back.

I recently had the pleasure of spending a weekend in Hershey, PA and the one consistent thing I heard about was their legacy of giving and philanthropy. The Hershey Company’s story and unique culture of giving is very inspiring.

Milton Hershey, the founder, successfully created a community where his employees would enjoy living, working and also giving back.

Have you ever heard of the Milton Hershey School?

Mr. Hershey founded the Milton Hershey School in 1909. He dedicated his personal fortune to the school, which now educates more than 2,000 children from all across the country. On top of the financial support provided for the Milton Hershey School, there are also mentorship, leadership and developmental program opportunities for the students. One of my favorite things about the Milton Hershey School is they celebrate diversity and encourage respect.

Hershey has established long-term partnerships with incredible organizations like the Ronald McDonald House, United Way, Children’s Miracle Network and more.

They not only donate money to some of these organizations and causes, but also tickets to Hersheypark for kids in area elementary schools so they can experience amusement park fun.

I have to admit I was surprised to hear about the level of giving Hershey is involved in. More companies should truly share in that kind of commitment.
