Chocolate Challenge: Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Internship Activity as Sweet as it Sounds

Take a Look Inside the Latest Sweet Internship Activity at HE&R

Written by: Emily Strange

Through the Hersheypark Leadership and Development Internship Program  (HPLDI) and Milton Hershey School (MHS) Partnership, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R) holds a monthly event called the Chocolate Challenge!

The Challenge

This fun and collaborative experience brings together HE&R’s HPLDI and MHS interns in an enthusiastic competition to design an imaginary Hersheypark attraction using only candy and chocolate products from The Hershey Company. The twist? Each attraction must creatively represent the legacy of our founder, Milton S. Hershey, while keeping the HE&R brand in mind.

How It's Designed

Teams have just one hour to bring their sweet creations to life, while working together and navigating surprise challenges and incentives. These might include switching teammates, using only their non-dominant hand or earning extra candy by answering trivia questions.

Each team is also paired with an HE&R “Chocolate Ambassador” — a team member who ensures rules are followed and offers guidance to help bring their vision to life.

The End Goal

The Chocolate Challenge helps our interns develop essential skills such as collaboration, problem-solving, flexibility and creative thinking. The added pressure of navigating obstacles and having the guidance from HE&R team members provides insight into professional expectations and leadership.

Discover a fulfilling career path with an internship in Hershey The Sweetest Place On Earth®. HE&R offers four immersive internship programs, giving interns the experience to apply the skills they've developed in the classroom at one of the most recognized entertainment & hospitality destinations in the Northeast. And follow along on Instagram at @HersheyJobs to see how our interns are spending their summer!
