13 Reasons to Visit Hersheypark In The Dark

If you love the fall and Halloween, then Hersheypark In The Dark is the place for you!

This year, the family-friendly event kicks-off Friday, October 19 and runs for three weekends ending Sunday, November 4. Here are 13 reasons to enjoy our annual Halloween event:

  1. 13 roller coasters: Riding a coaster in the dark is a totally different experience from a day-time ride. The indoor spinning glow coaster Laff Trakk is a totally dark ride and the three wooden coasters (Comet, Wildcat and Lightning Racer) are lights out during the last hour of each evening.

  2. The flavors of fall: Let’s start with the King-Sized pumpkin shake, with a slice of housemade pumpkin roll and chocolate pretzel rods. This indulgent beverage is hand-crafted and offers enough for the family to share. Explore other indulgent treats here

  3. Dressed for the season: Hershey Bar, Reese and Hershey Kiss are in costume too! They love to meet and greet all the guests and pose for photos. And check out our new Character Glow party every night at 7:30 near Decades with our Hershey's Characters.

  4. Sounds of the season: The Screaming Mummies, a rockin’ band of misfit mummies, play classic Halloween tunes and interact with guests whenever they take the stage.

  5. There’s a chill in the air: The temperatures often drop on autumn nights. Gather the family (or your friends) and search for a Hersheypark sweatshirt that can keep you warm and then take turns taking selfies to showcase your Halloween spirit.

  6. Skee-ball and more: Who doesn’t love a good game of skee-ball or a visit to the Hersheypark Arcade? With Halloween-themed prizes, it makes the thrill of the win even more fun.

  7. S'mores are back: Hersheypark is THE place to enjoy S’mores this fall.

  8. Walk the trail: Children 12 and younger are encouraged to come in costume and take the “Trick-or-Treat Trail” that offers even more candy this year! Begin the adventure in Hershey’s Chocolate World attraction to receive a free candy bag and then venture through the inside stops before heading over to Hersheypark and ZooAmerica for a total of 13 candy stops.

  9. Kissing is allowed! Take a ride on the famous Hersheypark Kissing Tower for a bird’s eye view of the decorations and rides.

  10. Stay a while: With so much to do, consider making it a two or three-day vacation. The Official Resorts of Hersheypark offer a variety of experiences and packages at Hersheypark Camping Resort, Hershey Lodge and The Hotel Hershey.

  11. Night-time at the Zoo: What do the more than 200 animals at ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park do in the dark? Answer that question and more as this is the only time of the year that the Zoo is open after dark. Luminary making, animal encounters, and howling with the wolves are a sample of what awaits you on these Zoo nights.

  12. New Hops and Harvest: Special hops and harvest menu from Spring Creek Smokehouse and Country Grille unique to each weekend; offering a feast of fall and beer/cider flights in the new Yuengling 1829 Patio & Pavilion, with live entertainment on Saturday evenings. Check out the menus here.

  13. All Treats: the top reason to visit Hersheypark In The Dark is TREATS! With more than 50 rides and attractions, seasonal entertainment, family games, Creatures of the Night, and more candy than ever before, you are sure to experience your sweetest Halloween ever.
