Spartan Ice Cream at Milton Hershey School

One very tasty tradition throughout the halls of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R) is the annual return of the Spartan Ice Cream Center on the campus of Milton Hershey School (MHS). A good excuse for team outings and post-lunch treats, HE&R employees from various departments schedule time to enjoy homemade ice cream in flavors such as Honey Vanilla, Teaberry, Malted Memories, Peach and an all-time favorite of mine, Peanut Butter Cup! Our Marketing and Communications Team Building Committee recently hosted a Spartan Ice Cream social in our office. Dozens of team members sampled assorted flavors and got back to work with sweet smiles on their faces!  

For a few delectable weeks every summer, locals and in-the-know visitors are treated to favorite flavors and rotating surprises at the Spartan Ice Cream Center. Best of all? The delicious summer treat is made by MHS student interns. Through the School's Agricultural and Environmental Education (AEE) program, students learn how to make homemade ice cream and operate the Ice Cream Center. Students have led the charge with designing the labels, promoting the center and ideating on new flavors. We have no doubt that Mr. Hershey would be proud to see the students experimenting with iconic brands from The Hershey Company.

SPARTAN ICE CREAM CENTER FAST FACTS 

  • Location: Milton Hershey School campus near the ice rink at 655 Brook Drive in Hershey, PA. 
  • Approximately 32 premium flavors are available throughout the summer on rotation. 
  • Hours: Tuesday through Friday, Noon to 2:30 p.m. 
  • Price: Hand-dipped ice cream cones are $2.50, and take-home half-gallons are $6.00.

HURRY! The Spartan Ice Cream Center closes for the season on Thursday, August 15! 

But we will let you in on a secret...half gallons are available throughout the year at the School's Project Market! Let's try to keep that quiet. Happy ice cream eating!
