Hershey Bears to Host Hockey Fights Cancer

On Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, our Hershey Bears will host its second annual Hockey Fights Cancer game. Hockey Fights Cancer is a month-long awareness and fundraising campaign with all National Hockey League and several American Hockey League teams joining together in the sport's fight against cancer. Teams host special Hockey Fights Cancer games where players, fans, and staff members come together to celebrate survivors and remember those we have lost. On Saturday night, the Bears will wear special Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys when they take the ice against opponent Charlotte Checkers. Following the game, a jersey auction will be held to benefit the American Cancer Society and Hospice Of Central PA.

In advance of Saturday's game, some of our players visited Penn State Health Children's Hospital as part of the team's ongoing Hershey Bears Cares community initiative. Upon arrival, the players were greeted by a young patient, Evan, who proudly proclaimed he is now cancer-free! Evan asked the players to sign his poster and happily posed for photos with his family and the team members. Later in the visit, the players enjoyed spending time with other patients and participating in some seasonal crafting fun with patient Evey. The Hershey Bears recognize the importance of giving back to the community and appreciate the opportunity to thank fans for their ongoing support of the team.

Who do you fight for? Download your "I Fight For" sign and bring it with you to the game on Saturday! During the game, a "Moment of Fight" will be held and fans will be invited to hold up their "I Fight For" signs to showcase friends, family, and loved ones who have been impacted by cancer. Bears players are fighting for several loved ones including Martin Fehervary (mother), Kale Kessy (Billet family member), Philippe Maillet (godmother), Bobby Nardella (grandmother), Liam O’Brien (grandmother), Vitek Vanecek (grandfather), and Colby Williams (mother).  This author fights for her Dad, who valiantly fought cancer twice, and the many people I know currently battling this terrible disease. Share your story with us using hashtags #HBHIFightFor and #HockeyFightsCancer on your social media channels.

The puck drops at 7 p.m. at Giant Center. We hope you'll join us for this special game. Tickets are still available
