Giant Center Turns 15!

Giant Center has been home to world-class entertainment and the Hershey Bears Hockey team for the past 15 years. We have all became used to seeing the beautiful state-of-the-art building as a staple in Hershey, PA but do you know all the facts about Giant Center? We pulled together a few of our favorites about the building.

Center Size:
306,000 total square feet in the main arena
100 feet from ice to ceiling
17,000 square feet floor area
85’ x 200’ ice rink

Capacity:
12,500 for in-the-round concerts
10,000 for end staging
10,500 for hockey

Seating:
7,700 seats in Level 100 (lower level and suites)
2,800 seats in Level 200 (upper level)

Premium Seating:
40 Luxury Suites
688 club seats

Amount of Events:
Approximately 160 events per year

Groundbreaking:
November 8, 2000

First Event:
Cher performing her “Living Proof – The Farewell Tour” on October 15, 2002

First Hershey Bears Game:
Saturday, October 19, 2002 vs. Rochester

Turn-over Timing:
It takes about 5-7 hours from end of event to "ice ready" for a Bears game and back.
