5 Ways to Beat the Heat At Hersheypark

How to Cool Down on a Hot Day at the Amusement Park

It’s hot outside. Really hot. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy hours of fun at Hersheypark this summer. Here are five tips to stay cool and beat the heat while spending the day at Hersheypark.

Go on some water rides

Included in the one-price admission to Hersheypark is The Boardwalk At Hersheypark, an 11-acre water park with more than one million gallons of water and 16 water attractions for guests to cool off on a hot summer day.

Thrill seekers can rocket through intense open-air turns and high-speed tunnels on Breakers Edge Water Coaster, the first hydromagnetic coaster at Hersheypark, and race against their friends on Whitecap Racer, the longest mat racing slide in the world. There are also plenty of options, including a lazy river and 378,000 gallon wave pool, for guests looking to relax. Families with young children can enjoy Sandcastle CoveShoreline Sprayground and East Coast Waterworks, which offers more than 600 interactive water features alone.

Hersheypark is also home to some other water rides in the main part of the Park, such as Coal Cracker and Tidal Force, the latter of which greets bystanders with one of the largest splashes in Hersheypark

Stay hydrated

The best way to keep your body cool is to drink water and lots of it. Each visitor is allowed to bring one sealed bottle of water into Hersheypark. Furthermore, guests can take advantage of the All-Day Drink Deal for $16.75 and can save with free refills on fountain drinks and ICEE all day! They will receive a 2019 Souvenir Cup with a handle that makes it easy to attach to a backpack or stroller.

Go shopping

A visit to Hersheypark is not complete without a sweet souvenir to take home to remember all of the #HersheyparkHappy memories made. Many of the shops inside the Park are air conditioned, so guests can escape the heat while browsing the "cool" selection of hats, shirts, plushes, magnets, chocolate, and more.

Catch an indoor show

New for 2019 is the one-of-a-kind musical, Big Top Dreams, which takes guests behind-the-scenes at the circus. This resident show starts at 2:00 p.m., 3:15 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. every day through August 24 inside the air-conditioned Chevrolet Music Box Theatre. What a great way to cool down!

Come later in the day

Did you know that Hersheypark offers a sunset ticket? It is valid for admission after 4:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m., depending on when the Park closes. There are many benefits to purchasing a sunset ticket - lines are shorter, the temperatures are typically a little cooler and the price is lower. A regular sunset ticket is $32.95, which is a savings of more than 50 percent!
